Ryanair overbookings?

Hi, I've booked flights for April with Ryanair stansted to Pisa and a few people have told me to watch out as they may a) email and say the price has now changed and b)we may be told its overbooked and cant fly. both of these they say could happen right up to when we actually check in.
is this the case?
Im worried now as we probably wouldnt be able to get anything cheaper if it was close to the flight, and also I like to think of it as booked and definately going ahead.
Prehaps I am worrying too much but this is the first time we have tried a DIY holiday!
reassure me.. or tell me Im going to have to worry! eeek.

I have never ever heard of a case of Ryanair emailing people saying the price has now changed. Not sure where that came from. If they did do it routinely I'm sure we'd have heard about it, it would be a very sharp practice and doubt they'd be able to egt away with it.
Regards overbooking, again I've never heard of Ryanair doing it, but a lot of airlines do, so I wouldn't 100% say they don't. Turning up with plenty of time to spare, or even using online check in will make sure you aren't "bumped". When overbooking does happen it is first come first served, so the last people to check in are bumped. Personally I don't think there's anything to worry about; but to put your mind at rest arrive at the airport at least 1.5 - 2 hours before you fly.0 -
I have flown ryanair around 20 times in the last year and I have never been on any flight that was overbooked nor had any cancelled even when I paid 1p in a glitch they did not do anything. I have had other airline flights changed or cancelled however so it is a small chance with budget airlines.0

ryanair, easyjet etc don't offer 'flexible' tickets like the major carriers do so the problem doesn't arise0

the only concern i would have is if they changed the flight times, keep a check to see if they are still selling seats at the times you booked on , because it has been known for them to not advise by email about the changes, having said that i have always been notified of any changes
overbooking and price changes are out of the question0 -
Ryanair don't overbook, so you won't have a problem there.
When the govt put up fuel duty, Ryanair and the other locos did make their passengers pay the difference, though this was hardly their fault as it was a change in the law. I think this is what your friends are referring to.0 -
The comments of the OP's friends are typical of the complete and utter nonsense that is spread regarding Ryanair.
No offence to the OP, but the people who told you to watch out just haven't got a clue. They've jumped on the Ryanair knocking bandwagon. Please IGNORE there comments.
Ryanair DO NOT increase fares once you've booked. However if GOVT taxes are increased after you've booked they do have the right to pass these charges onto the customer, just as the majority of other airlines will do.
Ryanair are NOT a scheduled airline and therefore DO NOT overbook flights. They sell 189 tickets for aircraft that carry 189 passengers. No more !
Most scheduled airlines do oversell by up to 20% as experience tells them that not all passengers will turn up for their flights.
Enjoy Pisa !0 -

no offence taken at all! your comments were all great (and what I wanted to hear!) and I will ignore these people and start planning our trip and looking for car hire etc etc! thanks.0

It wasn't fuel duty it was when the Air Passenger Duty was increased but include all flights from a given date (Jan 07?) including those already booked and paid for.0
