Well I rang the vet & the assistant checked with the vet & although I could tell from her voice when she came back on the phone that they had had a good laugh (which was acctually reassuring) they think he will be fine! - maybe diarrohrea so bland meal tonight or if constipation then oily fish & milk tomorrow lol!
    Excellent news!

Thanks all for your concern & as always sage advise!
Actually I was very surprised that they didnt insist on seeing him, they just checked I had the hospital (emergency) number in case
I wont worry about ringing them if I'm worried again in the future which is also very good!

ha ha ha, sorry to laugh but i have a GSD too and she is just as daft. That is exactly the kind of thing she would do. Glad she ok by the way. I got home from work a few months ago to find my Jack russell pup had eaten half a pack of out of date nightol herbal sleeping pills. Like you i was worried about large vet bills. Rang and was told to keep eye on her. Needless to say i didnt hear a peep all evening. ha ha. Stoopid mutt. you gotta love em.

Do what I do! Befriend your vet so much that you can call 24/7 and get advice for free even when you move 20 miles away! Also free housecalls and free board for the dog in emergencies (she loves the vets dogs!) and get a fab friend to boot!!!!
Glad the pooch is ok although I bet it will be a "fragrant" evening ;)

    Glad he is ok .

It will be a poor day if vets get to the stage of charging for simple over the phone advice, let's hope it never comes to that.

Tine don't think I'd get free calls from my vets, lol, but do echo your sentiments,it is good advice to try and get on good friendly terms with them, makes phoning for a a bit of advice when you don't require a visit much easier, and you are also likely to be able to wangle better deals with them. Don't be afraid to question the cost of things. Over the years I have had a few little discussions with mine which has resulted in a lesser than expected or revised bill.

What is it with GSD's ? - total clowns they really are - Shadow prances round the room like a fairy half the time, that is when he isnt tripping over his own feet! He must be good for the soul I say 'cos I swear I have never smiled or laughed so much in my life than since we got him:rotfl:

ps He's absolutely fine BTW no nasty niffs or any other tummy trouble either after all that worrying:rolleyes:

We came home before to find our pup had eaten quite a few cod liver oil tablets luckily she was fine, her coat even seemed shinier than usual lol. She does act like a cat though sometimes so I think she must have liked the smell of fish!
