hello
bought my pc from www.quality-computing.co.uk where you can customise your pc to your hearts content even ring them up and they can talk you thru the best options. Also they are the only company that has a free phone telephone number for all your enquiires and after sales help.Wins so Far: 21" lcd monitor, 6 day all expenses paid holiday to China, 8800GTX gfx card, 2x Panasonic cameras, 12 cups and Loads of Twix's, Coffee Lovers Hamper - Wild bean cafe. TomTom (upto value of £200) Aviva Car Insurance0 -
Thanks for your reply Rachael.
I have taken a look at Dell, & their Jan offers aren't too bad, but they don't allow customisation without a monitor & some other core components. However, I've found Eclipse Computers, who seem to have been rated well by others, & they do allow this level of customisation. May give them a whirl!
I have a customised Dell and I did not need to buy a monitor. But maybe that is just because I am special0 -
Can I ask why you want to customise the pc so much?Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

i used them too.
good prices, quick delivery but aftersales is poor - at best!
Replacing faulty components with broken and used ones then stating that my warranty is with the manufacturer and not them once my pc was over 12months old.
They even had the audacity to claim they replaced the faulty motherboard as a gesture of goodwill but didn't have to (even though it was covered by ASUS 3year warranty)
I spoke to my local trading standards office and small claims court has been mentioned. I doubt I'll go down that route since it won't be worth the hassle or cost just for a motherboard.
Their manager Paul Crookes stated that they had fulfilled all their obligations and requirements of the Sale of Goods Act. I almost emailed him to suggest he read it before making such claims!!
My PC is still not working and I'm still fighting them after 2months.
I'll not be using them again.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -

Hi Beesman, I registered to tell you that Eclipse computers gave me the worst customer service I have ever received. They took something like 3x the advertised time it would take to build and deliver the thing. I emailled them several times, only to be redirected to the next email address. They also sent the computer to the wrong address. All in all they were a disaster and I ended up wishing I'd paid that bit more to get decent service. Hope this review helps.0 -
If you know anyone who works with computers ask them, all geeks know somebody who can build a PC lol. Mine cost around £250 to build (Add on a tenner and some beers for the guy who did it lol) and it's still got fantastic spec 2 years later and is worth around £600..
as others have said how is worth more than what you payed for it,0 -
Can usually save a bit of money building the PC yourself, though not always. Helps knowing whats going into your PC and then not having to pay the crazy prices they charge merely to have a look at your PC if something is wrong. I build PCs for a living and don't charge anything to check them over if somethings wrong. Be careful your not going to get ripped off0

We also went through Dell, and managed to get triple Nectar points when we bought our PC. If you don't need the monitor, maybe you could sell it? (Ours came with a free upgrade from a 17" to 19" monitor and it's great for watching DVDs on.)
If you're not confident enough with hardware to build your own machine, as others have suggested (I know I'm not...) then maybe look for someone local or a friend who you can chat to about what you require? There's a lot of little computer shops and individuals who might be able to help you out.
Good luck!

I think what Tears274 probably means is that his computer was the same spec as a £600 machine when their computer was new?YouGov earned £45.75
Quidco earned £89.81
FreeFivers earned £9.15
Cashinco earned 1705 points0
