I tried to see the glow plug warning light in my Citroen C4 this morning. It's not possible to 'warm up' before switching on the engine. The glow plugs light doesn't show up until you turn the key into the final click which is what starts the engine.

yip and less strain on the battery,less work for the starter motor,less turning of a cold engine with little oil running round it,less fuel wasted on start up.

We ended up getting a:
Ford Fiest Ghia 1.4 TDCi 53 reg with 25,000 miles on the clock for £5700 with its last servicing last November.

Very happy with the car!
