Hi
Does anyone know if coupons can be used like this at Morrisons or Somerfield?
Thanks0 -
Betty,
Morrisons is notorious for not accepting any coupons unless you purchase exactly that product and even then for being a bit...doubting....Whenever I have coupons and Morrisons is offering the best deal i.e. on Muller healthy corner yoghurts (buy 6 get 6 free, so 12 free with 6 coupons) I always check with customer services at the start of the shop as more often than not the cashier calls them over anyway to check how to do the whole "coupon" thing.
LOL. I wonder if they realise how much business this is costing them? I think old Ken Morrison is a little behind the times.

I emailed tesco to ask whether individual stores could override local policy.
This is the useless template reply:Thank you for your reply.
As my colleague has stated we accept one coupon even if you have not purchased the product.
However, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item. If you present more than one identical coupon, then you must purchase the same number of
products.
I hope this clears the confusion.
Useless. So they only accept one coupon?? I used 4 yesterday!0 -
The problem is the wording HO use in respect of coupons... when they say 1 coupon when you havent bought the product they dont mean 1 per shop they actually mean 1 of any different sort. My tesco at York will reduce your bill by 50%. The security manager even doesnt understand the policy and has been telling the cashiers off. To me its simply a matter of we are far too intelligent for our own good!0

i emailed uncle bens and they have replied
It is entirely at the discretion of the shop or supermarket concerned if they wish to accept our coupons. I appreciate that this can be frustrating. If you would like to advise me of your full name and postal address, I will send you a complimentary voucher that can be redeemed against any product in our range.
i will let you know what they send when it arrivesAMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0066

I regularly use as many coupons as I can, and feel no embarassment whatsoever at delaying the queue while the supervisor, manager or whoever is called. It is all about not giving ground.
I agree that Asda are the best for coupons now, although I seem to have "trained" my local Asda in how they treat customers - their service has improved so much.
Tesco can be awkward, simply because their staff training is so poor. No-one knows the policies even if they exist. In some cases the managers haven't got a clue. If you have problems getting coupons accepted, and the supervisor is no help, just tell them you don't want any of the shopping, and walk away. (OK if you have plenty of time.) I did this once and they were left with a trolley load of stuff to put back on the shelves. Bear in mind that things like fresh and cooked meats cannot be resold and go in the skip. A few more people adopting this tactic would exert pressure on awkward managers. Remember, WE are the people who pay the money.0 -

That's why I prefer to pay for what I have and then return to the store and fill the trolley with weighed meat, fish, cooked meat etc they can't just put that back on the shelf it goes in the bin or reduced to the staff.
Tesco are deliberately vague about their policy until challenged the reason being they want to keep a cap on it as obviously they want peoples cash through the tills also, but they are acutely aware that the vast majority of shoppers would normally discard these coupons and for marketing purposes accept them, if you know you can offload your coupons at Tesco and your an average kind of bod who only has a few your going to shop at Tesco because you feel your getting something for nothing and most people will choose a couple of extra items feeling they are getting them free with the value of the coupons and thus spending far more of your cash there than you might have if the policy didn't exist.
Why do you think Sainsbury#s are falling so far behind, they had to tighten up and stop taking them because of various reasons.
Tesco make a lot of money taking coupons and will continue to do so as long as is possible but want to avoid a stampede at the same time.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Hello,
Excuse if I am dense. But What does % of the bill mean? Secondly, what do you mean by accepting coupons even if you do not buy the product? Could someone please clarify?

Ok, for example, say you had 20 x £1 voucher for King of Shaves shaving gel (which incidently costs £3.99). You could use it pretty much anywhere to get £1 off of a tube of shaving gel. At Tesco's, you could use the coupon to get £1 off of your shop whether you actually purchase the specific shaving get product OR NOT. In some Tescos, if you are lucky, they might take 3 or 4 vouchers, so you get £3 or £4 off of your shop without buying that shaving gel.
If you have a variety of different vouchers, and they take 1 or 2 of each without you buying any of the products, you get money off of your normal shop...to the limit of say 10%. SO if you spend £50 on your weekly shop, you could get up to £5 off by using unrelated coupons.0
