  • The freephone number for North Wales Fire service is 08081002863.
Never let anyone into your home without any ID though,I've heard that there has been cases of imposters!!!!, all us fireservice personnel carry photo ID badges, also do not let anyone in unless it has been pre-arranged,North Wales fire personnel will always phone before visiting and not just turn up on your door with a smoke alarm and tool box.
Free 10yr smoke alarms are fitted and a home fire saftey check is carried out.

This post needs to be bumped until everyone takes advantage of this excellent service. Three firepersons visited my home, one fitted the two smoke alarms, one did a safety check around my home and the third talked to me about fire safety and discussed an escape plan. They were in my home for 20 minutes and I am very impressed with the service and professionalism.

They told me that they have safety promotions where those on benefits and pensions can have a FREE deep fat fryer if they hand in their chip pan. These are advertised in the local newspaper and community centres, etc.

For all the Scottish members out there, I'm in Inverness and our fire brigade popped a letter through the door last week asking me to get in touch if I'd like a fire safety check done for my home. The letter said, "we came round to visit you but unfortunately you were not home..." The funny thing is we were sitting in the front room, close to the front door at the time and all they did was pop it through the letterbox, they didn't even knock!

  • Went to our local station today in Kent and a nice fireman is coming to my home on Tuesday!!
They gave us a leaflet about the 10 year smoke alarms and tips and advice on what to do to prevent fires. thanks webfuz

this is the contact for the hampshire fire brigade and in my area they came out from the station and brought the fire engine. Had all my neighbours curtain twitching!! and they let my son have a look over the engine.

They replaced three alarms in my house and had a general check over the house. it was really worth it for the peace of mind it gives you.
  • It is now over a month later since I saw this post and contacted my local fire brigade to do a home safety check, they came the other day, replaced one of our two smoke alarms, with a free ten year battery life one, the other was relativley modern so was considered OK, but what they did do was to check the rest of the home, they found that we were overloading one socket in the lounge, (the one for the TV,SAT, VID, DVD etc) and that our chimmneys (two of) were due to set on fire at any time, as we have not had them swept for such a long time, They hi-lighted this as being the only two problems we have, but have probably saved our lives or a lot of heartache in having gallons of water and soot poured down our chimmney. just wanted to say a
 :T BIG THANKYOU TO WEBFUZ :T
for this posting and for prompting me to take action on this very serious matter. Now I am going to get onto the police to see if I can get a free crime prevention check.

  • as an ex serving fire officer, who is still involved with fire safety, if you havn't got an alarm or two (or more) most fire services in the UK will fit them for you FREE, they also have a wealth of information on prevention and many services are running campains with social services, home helps, district nurses, carers, day centres etc, etc to identify risks in the home, not just fire.
The fire service must be the only firm/organisation that are activly trying to do themselves out of a job......Please support them
OK so I act like him but my name aint Meldrew ]

  • Well a really good offer, I had mine fitted about 5 months ago by manchester fire brigade, but only last weekend the alarm was going of for no reason and you cant stop it, so in the end we pulled it of the ceiling and had to take it apart to get the battery out to stop it. I have a few people that have had this problem with these alarms. Havnt rang the fire brigade back yet havnt got the number but if antone knows the manchester one let me know will you.
Live for today, tommorrow may never come!
