My father passed away - his phone contract?

the debt is not payable, only a financial institution would ask for estate details for absolute thousands or more, most right it off - the debt is no longer serviceable with 3 & I've never known a mobile net to chase a contract till fufillment period where the a/c holder has passed on - it just would be bad publicity for any net to do so
I would advise you ask them to convert it to payg, you may get the odd call to dads number from friends/people/companies/public bodies etc... unaware of his passing
cancel the DD, fax or scan & email the certificate, request transfer to paygSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
The contract will not need to be paid. There will not be a debt. Stop the DD. You do not have to get 3 to say you can. a dd can be stopped at anytime by anyone. You need to send a letter in to 3 telling them that your father has passed on. Wait 3-4 days then call them. There will be no chase for money from you at least and i would also mention to the legal rep whi is looking after you fathers estate etc. Good luck and sorry to hear about your lossend the tv tax0

Sorry for your loss.
3 were always very good at losing my dd details and accusing my bank of refusing the honour the dd when I complained - something my bank vehemently denied by the way.
Therefore, clearly it is possible to cancel the dd to prevent them taking payments.
So, as suggested, cancel the dd and fax through a copy of the certificate to them. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I am a little puzzled. How did the account appear in your dad's name but with your DD details?
Are you sure your dad made the contract and not you?0 -
