Im assuming these data breaches we keep hearing about is the hacking of people's personal data. Recently its the airports.

There is a world of difference between hackers looking to steal data to sell to allow financial/ID theft and a legitimate, registered firm supposedly hacking accounts to sign you up for a car finance claim that might go nowhere.
If the firm has your email plus details of the car you had, dates etc, on the balance of probabilities, you gave your data to a social media advert for a "free search" which signed you up to use them to put the claim in.
I looked at in the junk folder on my phone and the majority of blocked texts are generic, 1 had my first names but not surname and 1 has my reg but none have any details. Given my car was on 0% then it's clear they are just sending speculative junk. I have not filled in or used any car checker sites as I know there is no point
