- Three loads in the WM including the bedding - to be made when I get home.
- Floor Decluttered and hoovered (including ensuite and skirtings)
- Clothes put away and furniture has been dusted and tidied (so much carp gathered).
- I'm off out this afternoon to see a friend so sorting out and decluttering will need to wait.
- I've sorted a couple of things to sell and will advertise those later or Friday.
- Figured out my skirting question - its hoover, wet wipe, dry wipe, then dust when fully dry.

hi all
On our day off yesterday I cleared a load of admin bits, my filing and shredding, also sorted my charity shop drop and Vinted listings from the pile lurking in the corner of my office. Much better now and another room looking generally tidier.
Paid stuff only so far today, did manage the DW and loaded the WM for running tomorrow, busy work day so I suspect that may be it but I will try and see if I have any energy to tackle something later.
Day off tomorrow but taking car for a service, not leaving until around 10am so theoretically that gives me time to fly, now I just need the motivation and the energy!Have a good day

So sorry to hear that Summer has crossed Rainbow Bridge. It's always so, so hard and nothing makes it better. (((hugs)))
Sorry I haven't been contributing yet again. I got stuck in to Full Flying Mode on Monday and actually dusted my office and our bedroom, washed all the dog and cat water and food bowls, finished sorting through all the herbs and spices so I could shop for the ones I need but not buy any I don't to make very low salt stock powder, and while I was dusting made the decision to donate a few things that I seem to have had for quite a while but don't actually care that much about. I needed to get all of that done as I had to go out on Tuesday to get my second shingles jab and thought I'd do a bit of ducking and diving once I'd made the decision to go out and about. Asked Belovéd to find the cheeping smoke detector in his gentleman's gibble stash so I could take it to the tip on Tuesday. Which he did. And put at the top of the stairs outside the sitting room for some unfathomable reason.
When smoke detector batteries are dying the cheeping gets a lot louder, which I discovered that at 3.00 am when Wren had a full on panic attack. I eventually wrapped it in a 13 tog duvet in one of the basement letting rooms and shut the door on it, which calmed her down after a lot of chicken, a pit stop outside to pee and more chicken. She went back to sleep in her favourite place and I spent the rest of the night listening to Radio 4 Extra and the World Service and fretting about not being able to get back to sleep.
So, Tuesday - had the jab, thence To Dump Dump Dump, on to the garden centre for much needed sunflower hearts for the birds as we were almost out, then supermarket for the stocking up we're supposed to be doing - tinned fish, batteries for the thermopen (I don't want food poisoning from undercooked food because of fuel shortages) and spied some things that would be suitable for Belovéd for Christmas / Birthday treats etc etc and then home. It was Belovéd's turn to cook supper so hurrah! after we'd put things away I had a bit of a rest. Had lovely supper and then realised I felt a bit ick, thought I'd eaten too much and went to bed.
Glad Wednesday was a day off from Flying because I really couldn't have done much. I reacted badly to all the Covid 19 jabs so after five I just stopped having them because by that time I'd had covid and the jab reactions were much worse than the illness, so I just stopped them. It came as a bit of a shock to react so badly to the second shingles jab because I had no reaction at all to the first. I still feel quite weak and feeble today but as all the symptoms I've got/had are par for the course I've put this one down to not having anywhere near enough sleep and being so busy on Tuesday (I covered over three miles ducking and diving between things). I cancelled my Foodbank visit this morning and lovely A brought all the paperwork round (at my request) and I'll do it when I'm up and running again. In terms of donations t's quite quiet between Harvest Festival and the beginning of the run up to Christmas in December so I'm only going in fortnightly at the moment. I would far rather have a couple of days of being weak and feeble etc than shingles so it was worth it; it just came as a bit of a surprise.
In terms of being prepared I know what we would need if things were grim and I got most of the hardware in some time ago. We've got a one ring gas thingy with lots of gas canisters and I found my camping head torches in the attic, got them down and put them in the battery basket so we both know where they are if the power goes off. With two cats candles aren't a great idea. We've got bottled water because where we live the water seems to be cut off for a few hours at least once a year when someone digs up the road near us, and electricity also goes off for a few hours occasionally. When we have guests I put a bottle of water outside their rooms when water gets cut off. If anyone wants to give someone a really useful Christmas present that's very affordable and worth its weight in gold - head torches. Cheap as chips, and with a pack of batteries about the most useful thing a person could have. Hand held torches are useful but put one hand out of use so I don't bother with them any more.

For their wedding presents, I gave each of my nephews and their OHs a box of torches and batteries including the head lights, I wrote out suggestions of where to put the torches (flashlights here in US) including on a hook in the bathroom near the toilet, on the side of the refrigerator, on both sides of the beds, and in the car under the seat on both sides. And ones to go where you sit and work and ones to go next to where you send your time watching tv. Need to update all of the ones I have. I keep a small one under my pillow. During storms I carry it in my pocket. When I used to travel leading tour groups, I always included instructions on carrying one with them in their carry-on bag. And then to carry a small one in their pocket. I also listed it in the book I wrote on traveling to Salt Lake City. One trip, the power in the Genealogical Library went off and it was wonderful to see how many of people there were able to pull out their flashlights and lead everyone to safety. Several of the people even mentioned reading it in my book.

a useful catch up with admin stuff today. 2 parcels packed to return items for a refund and a vinted parcel posted. I managed to park in one of the 1/2 hour free parking bays too so that was an MSE win. Filing and shredding are up to date but I will spend a few mi Ute's tomorrow updating my recipe folder. Banking is all up to date and ready for November.
DW emptied. 1 small load of washing dried on the line and put away.
hoping to have a flourishing flying Friday tomorrow to get the weekend underway in a clean and tidy way.8 -
I have carried a few not-too-heavy boxes. mostly i minded the van, so it could stay with doors open for loading. At least at the other end the van didn't need minding
I peeged out washing and brought it in.

Evening All.
I took the morning off (well, I played around on my iPad for longer than was really healthy), then
- made lemon chicken soup for lunch from yesterday's carcass, with lots of chicken pieces in it [nom-nom]
- texted DS1 to ask him if he was going to be able to come and fit new lights in our front garden this week - he's now coming tomorrow afternoon
- checked the lawn before J came to mow it
- took Rosie for a short walk while J had the mower out
- asked J to clear some of the rampant periwinkle and forget-me-nots so that he could plant out the new Michaelmas daisies that I bought almost a fortnight ago
- pulled the past-it annuals out of the big pots on the decking and then, because I didn't want to waste the colour while they're still in bloom, potted up the huge geranium plants in smaller plastic pots, which are now standing on the decking next to the empty big pots, IYSWIM - I'll bring the geraniums in and store them in the back porch as soon as I've planted up the big pots again
- planted up hyacinths and paperwhites in indoor bowls and hid them in the dark of the mower store, making a mental note to get them out again around Christmas time
- made us each a cuppa and had a few zzz
- cooked chickpea, veg and sweet potato curry for tea [nom-nom]
- watched BBC1 from 8-9.30pm - excellent twists! 😉
- ordered two pairs of outside lights for click and collect tomorrow, so that DS1 can tell me which type is better (I can take the unwanted pair back to the local store for a full refund)
We've had a warm afternoon with sunny intervals, so it was very pleasant to get outside for an hour or so.
I love your description "gentleman's gibble", HB! Sorry to hear that the shingles jab upset your equilibrium. GWS vibes heading your way xx
Tomorrow I have been asked to support another Macmillan coffee morning. No shame in having a slice of cake for a good cause! And anyway, it's on my way to town… 😁

Feeling much more like myself today, so thank you for the well wishes Ionafan.
Have walked Wren, done a load of laundry, messed about with hiking shoes (an on-going saga even I'm getting bored about), divd'd up the bird' sunflower hearts into pots which makes refilling the feeders easier, rediscovered some wingnuts I thought I'd lost, coralled them into a bag and stapled them to a shopping list of ironmongery we need and put them in my bag so I don't forget them, topped up the DW and run it, pegged the laundry out, got some in to air in the house, emailed a local landlord about his tenants who've been leaving their bins on a very narrow pavement between collections for two years which means we all have to walk in the road on a fast bed, contacted the iphone repair chappy about the screen and camera that need TLC, fixed up a lunch with my 83 year old neighbour for next week and am looking at the chaos on my desk and wondering how on earth I'm going to get through it all.
Situation normal, all 'fiddled' up.
