I've given you all the day off tomorrow mainly for a selfish reason…lol Ive got a fair bit of paperwork to do so I thought I would make it a day off for you all. You can decide what you would like to do, either do a level that hasn't been done from a previous day or have the day totally to yourself doing what you want :D
Normal service will be back tomorrow I can assure you :D

Well it has been the most sucessful flying day in Villa Valli for many a day… dining room done, line-dried washing brought in - swimming stuff now on maiden airing. Half the hallway has been vacuumed and mopped (I do it half at a time so as not to spend time stuck on the front doorstep or sat on the stairs) and, as I opened doors to encourage floor drying I have also blown out the vinegar/chutney aromas.
DW and WM locked and loaded.

I've managed to do quite a bit of flying today too- it's amazing what can be achieved when you're expecting visitors!
- FUPA all of yesterday's washing (my bedding, towels, bath mats, and a few of my clothes) which I had iron-dried* in the TD but finished off on the bathroom radiators [*I have given up ironing except for pressing curtain hems, and I have no intention of making any more of those in the foreseeable future]
- FU all DH's t-shirts which have been hanging in the utility for almost a week and still feel damp, so I am airing them on the radiators overnight
- finished cleaning, polishing and hoovering bathroom
- hoovered my bedroom and the study-bedroom
- hoovered the stairs from top to bottom
- tried to persuade Rosie to go for a walk but she was having none of it (I think she'll be fit enough to go out with L tomorrow)
- finished icing the coffee cake and decorating the top with glace cherries and pecan halves
- wrapped up the coffee cake, one of the Christmas cakes that I made yesterday, and a year-old Christmas pudding from the back of the fridge - all for DS2&Co to take with them
- went to K&N at church; nattered but didn't knit because my back and hands were very painful; decluttered a couple of small items that had fallen into my bag of craft supplies for the children on Sunday
- found 3 !!! more carrier bags of jam jars in the choir vestry; brought them home; decided to be ruthless so immediately threw all the jars without lids and all with labels on into the recycling bin (removing them would have taken up far too much of my spare time today, and I've got more than enough empty jars now)
- made and baked plum crumble with lots of cinnamon and apple crumble flavoured with just a few cloves for our meal with DS2&Co tomorrow.
I have a plan of action for tomorrow which involves getting up long before DH is likely to emerge from his bed, so that I can prep the chicken and all the veg without him getting in the way. To make things easier, I have bought frozen Yorkies and potatoes. After breakfast I shall just need to flick a duster round everywhere and cajole DH into hoovering through downstairs. I might even mop the kitchen floor!
Thanks for giving us the day off tomorrow, Natty, but I'll take it on Thursday instead 😉

Thank you @Valli for pointing me in the right direction, I've ordered a radiator brush on the big river (not bayof E) for £7.99.
As I've only really started this week (and missed Monday 😊) I thought I'd do some flying on our day off.
I went to the gym this morning and it made sense to look for that blanket basket on the way home. It was a bit expensive for what it was so decided to buy some new cushions instead (!) and then went to Hobbycraft for some wool. Normally I'd leave the fun stuff 'til the afternoon but it made sense as I had to get groceries.
So this afternoon I:
- Cleaned the skirtings in the hall
- Cleaned cloakroom and skirtings
- Cleaned bathroom sides, tops and skirtings
I did hoover with my handheld first but still ended up with lots of black fluff/cat hair/hair after wiping with wet? I took a dry cloth to it after, but it wasn't perfect. Any tips for this - I was wondering if I should use kitchen roll or some blue roll DH has in the garage?
For later:
- I've only recently scrubbed the bath, and I've left the mirrors and shower screen for when I do the ensuite and windows.
- Refix the hooks I keep brushes etc on - sticky isn't great so they keep falling down.
- Fill in some of the gaps in the skirting - spotted when cleaning
- I've also got a charity shop bag to drop off now.
Hope everyone had a lovely day and have a great evening 😀

I have hearing aids.
In other news I realise my wall clock has an audible tick.
Line dried washing and put bins out.

Perversely, true to form, as Natty gave us a day off yesterday I bucked my ideas up to flying in the morning. Bedroom and ensuite cleaned. It doesn’t sound a lot for a day, so I guess that I must have done something else….Today we are builder-less so I plan to make give the hall and stairs quick go over as there is plenty of dirt from the hall being carried around the house.
In other new, the DR is tantalisingly close to being finished, I need to crack on with curtain making, although I might be distracted (it easily happens) by wanting to get the geranium pots emptied and the plants into the gh for the winter. And DD tells me that she has a Christmas list - sharing said list might be helpful 🤦♀️.

We had a lovely visit from DS2&Co yesterday. They had been staying in Cheshire for two nights and spent the whole of Tuesday at Chester Zoo. DGS3+4 (13 and 11yo) were falling over each other and their parents to get a word in edgeways when I asked what they had seen at the zoo - they obviously had a great time which was both fun and very educational. It led to some deep conversations on climate anxiety, the difference between venom and poison, counting minibeasts, specialised feeding enrichments for elephants, and much more. DGS4 has grown up a lot - emotionally as well as physically - since he started secondary school and seems a much happier child than when we last saw them in July. DGS2 is now tall enough to put the missing but not lost curtain hook back in its place in my bedroom without needing a stepladder, while DS2 sorted out our non-working iPlayer and, after rigorous testing, pronounced our DVD player dead - he swapped it an old one of theirs that they had taken on holiday with them to use in the hotel and would only accept the coffee cake in payment. Rosie was very happy too: a walk with L meant that she came back just as DS2&Co arrived, and DS2 had dog biscuits ready in his pocket so she followed him around. The roast chicken dinner went down very well with everybody (including Rosie) and I managed not to drop or burn anything: thankfully DS2 helped with lifting things from the oven and carving. After they left I managed to pack away the small amount of leftover food and fill the DW, and DH did the rest of the washing up, so we start today tidy 😀. I collapsed onto the sofa with a much-needed coffee and slept for 2 hours, and then didn't do a lot more until bedtime.
J the gardener is due to come this afternoon, so this morning I want to plant my poor bulbs, now that I have finally sourced some peat-free bulb fibre. It's not raining, just a bit misty, so J should be able to mow the lawn again and in doing so will get all the leaves up.
I hope that we shall get breakfast before lunchtime! If I go down and make myself another cuppa, it might prompt DH to do something about it. Mind you, I only had a boiled egg for supper and I'm still quite full.
Hope everyone had a good day of rest and will have another good day today xxx
