@flaneurs_lobster to be honest, and really knowing nothing about modern telephony/broadband/communications technology, it didn’t seem important to say for whom CityFibre were working (and no-one asked).

Take your point, should have asked the question.

    Glad you got it sorted.

I thought it was something you had actively asked for.

It is just kicking the can down the road though, at some point you won't have any choice if you want to maintain a fixed Internet connection.

@Rob5342 No, my broadband supplier initiated it, without consulting me.

”it’s just kicking the can down the road…” I expect so, but it was silly of them to try to implement it in a two-week time-frame without checking whether my home infrastructure could support it.

Now that I have an idea what will be needed, I can include their two-socket requirement when I have other electrical work done. In fact, guessing from some of the comments above, there might be other options as to location which I can consider, and explore with my broadband supplier at a later date, and at my convenience, not theirs.

If you're having home electrics done, fit lots more sockets. Older homes (and that includes pretty much anything in the 20th century) don't have enough of them.

    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

..and put them a metre off the ground so that they are easy to use.

Cat-6 throughout the house would be good too……
