Anyone now powering their home / exporting via their EV (V2X)? Tariff query..

I can see that the Niglon MS100ATS would automatically switch to battery (or a generator) if there is no voltage on the mains. But what you want is something that runs primarily off the battery but switches to mains either when the battery is fully discharged (i.e. down to some minimum prescribed state of charge) or when you want to charge the battery. Can the Zaptec Go 2 trigger those switches?

I'll be primarily running off my 7.1 kWs of solar panels and then the EV5 battery after dark, or when the house needs more power than the panels can supply. Also, if I've fully discharged an 84kWhr EV battery then something has gone seriously wrong! My plan is that I will only ever import from the grid during Octopus Go cheap rate hours. I am also considering replacing the Niglon in the design by a small domestic hybrid battery / inverter. TBC…

Quote From OP "If anyone wishes to point me in the direction of a better suited bidirectional charger that I should consider, I'm all ears!"
well when do you want it to work? if that answer is now, then you need to go for a DC charger like Wallbox Quasar or SigEnergy as they are the only type that are approved for use now
Bidirectional AC charging is not approved yet, and might never happen IMO

Would you like to elaborate on your last sentence? Bidirectional comprises V2H & V2G. Are you suggesting that neither are, and will ever be possible? There are plenty of websites out there discussing the topic in depth. Here's one of them. Also if you ask Gemini (yes, I know AI question and answers must be taken with a pinch of salt..) "How does the Zaptec Go 2 transfer energy from an EV to the house" there is plenty to mull over. This idea is full of technical and regulatory hurdles and has taken some time to get to where we are today. With ISO 15118-20 coming into force on 1st January, hopefully the availability of V2X will speed up.

all bidirectional charging is currently DC only, is it not? that way, the powered electroncs responsible for putting enregy on the gird (ie a wallbox quasar) are type tested and notified, just like all solar inverters are currently, G99 forms are submitted with all the details and the adress etc
the AC bi-directional charging is different in that any compatible vehicle could be plugged in, and thats the main sticking point with certifification, how do you know whats going to be plugged in and responsible for exporting power onto the grid?
what do you think will happen on 1st Jan when that ISO standard comes into force? I hope it happens but I just can't see it

It should be obvious to everyone that ISO standards have no direct effect on UK law or energy regulation.
The ISO standard will only become relevant as/when the UK regulatory framework is modified to implement it.

Peeps, I am just asking for feedback from forum members on the component products of my plan (which has been discussed with my OZEV-approved and NICEIC / NAPIT registered electricians, without any concerns being raised). I'm not telling anyone when V2G will be switched on, so I'm not debating that, however everything I've read and discussed (verbally and via email) with those in the know indicates that A/C V2H is available now if your EV has the built in hardware / software and you buy the correct equipment. I also appreciate that the ISO standards are for continental Europe at present. If I have to wait a little while for that then fine, however the new EV needs a charger no later than first week of Jan, and I'm doing all I can to be ready for when all the ducks line up in a row..
Take a look at this..

The correct equipment (for the immediate future) must require that the grid is disconnected when V2H is running to ensure you don't get an accidental bit of V2G. I think that was mentioned in a passing remark in the video. When you are trying to charge your car, both the grid and the Zaptec have to be connected; would your change-over switch allow that? My suspicion is that it would not, but I don't know for sure.
