tax credits - fraud or not??

They will still need the information they have requested. By the sound of it, they suspect that your BF has been living at your address for the past 12 months.
Has he applied for loans etc at your address? Does he have post coming to your address. They can check all of this now without your permission and probably already have. Honesty is the best policy!

If you werent originally working and your OH part time when you originally claimed and now you both are then you may not even be eligible for some parts of tax credits. Not sure why you think his income will only make £8 difference.
If he has no proof that he was paying rent elsewhere and all the documents put to the fact he was resident at your home then there's no point lying and saying he moved in in November. Far better to own up and chances are you'll only have to pay back all the money you claimed that you KNEW you werent entitled to.
If he applied for loans from your address declaring it on the form, then he's all but admitted in writing that is his residence.0 -
Right, i will work it all out and give the person who is dealing with it a call back, feel bad for lying before though

Whats the worse that will happen? will they just stop all payments and then make me pay it all back? will my partner be in trouble to?0 -
I have used the tax credits calculater https://www.entitledto.com and it says at estimated income from my partner £16000 and mine at £6000 child care costs at £120 pw
we would be entitled to £137.03 tax credits per week.
At the mo its £140 ctc and £85 working tax for me.
I think its around £5 - 6k thats been over paid to me.
If i confess will i only be making matters worse and also he really was living at his dads for 6 months, how does he prove it when there are no utilities or rent books?0 -

Yes they said they knew of loans etc.... i explained that yes he did apply for loans and as he still owns the house (mortgage in his name) he still wanted to take out a loan to do up the house as it needs alot of renevation which is very true.
They asked if i had proof of agreement for me paying half the mortgage i said i didnt as we sort it out between ourselves.
oh dear i have gotton myself into a mess

I think if you don't confess now you may be making things worse. I'm not even sure the 3 month rule applies, they told me you should inform them of any changes in circumstances immediately.
The trouble is once you start with the lies if you haven't made a clear note of exactly what you have said to who you will more than likely drop yourself in it anyway.
For example, the start of this thread you didn't admit you were talking about yourself. I'm not having a go at you because as dizzyliz said the government make it awfully tempting to chance your luck when you are better off declaring you are single.0 -
Yes i think its best i come clean. Going to give them a call in the morning with all the corect figures since november 2007. I will just say i have a confession to make and that my partner moed in as a couple in november and i didnt tell them earlier today as i panicked on the phone.
What will happen will they just make me pay it all back or what?0
