after a second day of strimming, mowing and sweeping garden looks splendid but boy it was hard work. Green bin almost full.
I've got stuff to do most days - ugh.
DW emptied, washing dried, recycling bins emptied.

Thanks for lists.
Retirement: I can now say out loud that I'm retired, although many would point out that I've been retired for 2 yrs. However I wasn't sure that I wanted to - but at 66 my self-employed uni contract ended and I knew I didn't want to 'sign on' for another 2-3yrs. In theory I have been open to private assessments/tuition for the last 2 yrs (without formally advertising, just being on the professional list) but in practice I haven't been asked to do any. So that, plus the 2-ish days per week volunteering at the college has meant that I've gradually got used to not working for money. Now I'm happily saying that I won't be renewing my 3-yearly assessment certificate nor will I be buying any of the new tests I would need, so effectively I'm barring further employment in my career. And I'm ok about it. The voluntary work has been a saviour as it has given me structure, colleagues and contact with students without the level of responsibility.
Today:
- went to body pump
- dropped in to garden centre to see if they had any of the stone chippings we liked but were out of stock last week. No joy. Got some very reduced pansies to put in hanging baskets though.
- Am continuing to weed, prune and re-plan bits of the garden.
- still picking squash, spinach, tomatoes, apples, few carrots, climbing beans.
- went to Alexander session. Who knew my body could fold in half - at least that's what it felt like.
- gathered washing together to put on first thing tomorrow.
- continued culling/transferring photos from phone to PC prior to set up the new-to-me phone; yes I finally made a decision on a reconditioned one.
- went to zumba
- Mr N and I have been sorting out calendars as we have a lot cropping up in the next few months ranging from flu jabs, few days in Norfolk, a rock concert, visit to Mum, visit from utilities engineer (again) to sort out Smartmeter and a whole range of other stuff.
- did some drumming practice. Perhaps we should form a flylady drum group……..

my 'retirement' was sort of forced on me too; when i left teaching and took my pension I needed my p/t job but then my mortgage was paid off when my critical illness insurance paid out and I was made redundant last year. I do the job as a volunteer though, but for far fewer hours, my other pension paid out and I inherited some ££ so I am fine financially - and very much enjoying retirement.
WM x 1 and a trip to Meadowhell on the cards for today.

Most of the three loads of laundry are now folded and put away but there's been absolutely no wind here for 48 hours so the things that hold on to their water are still dangling, albeit on a smaller rack in the kitchen. I hope they're dry by the end of the day because I hate the place looking like a Chinese laundry.
Lots more blushing tomatoes picked. We've got a big bowl of ripe ones (and a plan for their future), a big bowl of blushing ones that are almost there and another big bowl of slightly blushing ones that will go red eventually. I'm finding they split and drop if I leave them until they're completely ripe. I think we'll be freezing quite a lot of homemade tomato sauce this year. We absolutely do not need any more chutney!
Had another go at the hob kettle and it's now sparkly. In the end I tried a spray that I bought for getting the airfryer buckets clean (absolutely useless, dead waste of money), E1b0w Gr3@se, J!f type stuff and neat washing up liquid and while the latter three did work with a lot of effort on my part and a microfibre cloth, none of them were good at baked on grease spots. I hope I don't let it get that bad again because it's positively shiny now.
I managed to get my accounts up to date yesterday and started tackling the filing which goes back to at least September last year. I regularly nibble at it but I've rarely managed to clear it over the years and this time it's got to happen. I need the feeling of space. I've been slowly, slowly, slowly gaining my spaces back and have more air than filling in about half of my personal drawers (oh er Mrs) and I've managed to keep the gibble in those areas down to manageable amounts. I want more of that feeling because I think I'm at the stage of life where I'm ready to let a lot more stuff go.
If I've got the energy later I'll do some dusting so that I can wash the rest of the paintwork in various areas of the house tomorrow but I don't want to over-commit.
My beautiful flowers, care of a Flylady, are still vibrant, cheerful and uplifting. Thank you once again.

What a beautiful day. Good afternoon everyone 😊
Towels and tea towels have been swished then pegged out. I've made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, fed the birds and put out the recycling.
I've completed the Alteration Request Form for HA and posted it. While I was at the PO I paid C. Tax for 1st Oct. I managed to set up my new WiFi provider's app on my phone and I've changed the date that the engineer is scheduled to install said WiFi - which gives HA another week to give their consent, and avoids clashing with an appointment at the GP's surgery. Not bad when you consider that at 7am I was a freaking wreck and had decided to cancel the whole shebang. 🤯
Had a lovely chat with NN outside the PO.

I am very very proud of myself, I have driven to the huge shopping mall by myself and not panicked (though I could feel myself heading that way at one point) so I am going to declare myself 'cured of panicking and general nervousness when driving' - about 6 months since my accident. As I suspected it was very quiet in there but the two shops I wanted to visit were on different floors and opposite ends of the mall and I even negotiated the down escalator (another source of nervousness usually) with aplomb. Go me!
Updated Christmas Gift spreadsheet ;)
Above items not unrelated.
Called into M&S food and snaffled the booklets - I promised to pick them up for others, too.
ETA had another session in the garden, strimming and mowing. Green bin full, paths swept.

Morning all,
Well done all on conquering your fears and getting things done. I realised when I renewed my car insurance that it’s been 5 years since the lorry rear ended me. I really should have moved on driving-wise. However last week’s long distance dashes meant that I had no choice, and do you know what, I can do it when I have to and I have a desperate child at the end of a phone. While I don’t consider myself quite ‘cured of panicking and general nervousness when driving’, I think I might have moved on. A teensy bit.
Yesterday was a write off as I had to drive (there it is again!) to and across the big town to take my car for a service and MOT. As it is too far to justify the trips back and forth, it was a long day. However the garage knocked money off the bill as I had to wait a bit longer due to the mechanic losing the completed paperwork 🤦♀️. Not all bad.
This morning I am all behind, as Tuesday is always my “busy” flying day, back from when it was my day off from work. I am now officially retired as of last month, as I have started taking an old workplace pension. I too had leaving forced on me, but what with everthing that has happened over the last few years, I value the time over the stress, and cut my cloth to suit. I don’t go shopping as I don’t like it and don’t want “stuff”, I have a budget and stick to it. Time and people are way more important to me now, and my regret is that I didn’t realise that earlier in life. However the flip side is that my pension would not be what it is (and it is by no means substantial) to enable me to stop now.
Moving on…wm with bedding has just finished. I need to hang that out, dry my hair and get on with something. Coffee first if anyone is interested?

Good morning all xx
Ooo yes please Fayolle ☕ xx
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, completed the nyt puzzles (or not in the case of Connections, only one line found today), got dressed, eaten breakfast and supped a brew.
I'm tired today, so easing my foot off the 'to do' gas this morning. My task for today is to unearth the paperwork re: a small pension pot (I know where the paperwork is so that's not too onerous) and read the instructions on how to claim the money.
I'll feed the birds, put out the recycling, and WUDUPA at some point.
Love to all

Morning all. Oops it's afternoon! I've just caught up with the Fred and glad that everything seems so positive.
I'm on holiday in the Lakes with DH and Poppet and we're having an amazing time.
Before we left home I cut the grass back and front, hoovered through and DH dusted the LR. Dailies were done and a friend is putting our bins out tonight. So we'll be going home to a tidy house at the end of the week.
Spend less now, work less later.7
