Any recommendations of insurance companies offering reasonable buildings insurance on an unoccupied property? Thank you.

you should find that the previous insurer will continue to provide insurance, at least for a while.

Depends on why its gone vacant.
This comes up most weeks, have a look at the recommendations that have been made to others. Heres another thread from today:

Depends on your definition of reasonable really…
It WILL be more expensive, it will come with a higher excess and there will be some conditions to cover, namely: weekly/fortnightly checks of the property, maintaining heating at a certain level to avoid pipes freezing, removal of valuables and highly likely reduced amount of perils (unlikely to include Theft for example)
When it happened to us, our existing insurers covered us as we were for 30 days and then we got a short-term (6 month) policy from Towergate online while we sold the house. They have since changed their name to Everywhen which came up top of my Google search for 'unoccupied house insurance'.
I note you have posted on a separate thread advising the estate might be quite substantial. If the bulk of that is this property and you are unable to comply with any of the conditions, you may wish to speak to an insurance broker who know the market more.0 -
There has been some positive feedback on this forum for the broker Adrian Flux, who offer unoccupied house insurance.

I have just insured the unoccupied home of a deceased person. The existing insurer would carry on insuring it but would not cover water escape, vandalism or theft - so not much use. I tried some price comparison sites but they were very expensive. So I called a broker that we had used for renovation house insurance. They came up with a very competitive quote, but the policy has caveats - we have to drain the cold water system down and have someone come in and inspect the house every 14 days and keep a log.
I can pm the name of the broker if you wish.

We went with Adrian Flux and their prices were reasonable but we didn't need to make a claim so can't comment on that but it was peace of mind that our unoccupied property was covered.
