So in summary, in seems like the issue occurs when calls are routed via the routers built in DECT base station but not when they are routed to the analogue port?

So as stated , before DV you presumably had your Panasonic DECT phone (with one or more handsets) connected to the master socket or extension socket and had no issues with incoming calls from any source , change to DV , you also change your equipment to use DV specific handsets and pair them to the hub and encounter problems from one particular number , your daughter, reconnecting the original Panasonic to the hub (instead of pre DV connected to the wall socket ) and your daughter and everyone else’s calls are ringing as they were before DV .

Simply remove the DV handsets , the first one didn’t cost you anything , the one you bought yourself return it for a refund , as far as why they mainly work but don’t ‘ring’ when your daughter calls but simply light up the display is unknown, these are like most cheap disposable electronics, if they don’t work they are not worth fixing , it may be some setting against that particular number in the DV handset or hub that has that number set to not ‘ring’ , if they have a factory reset ‘button’ or menu setting , try that , or it could be some firmware bug that just shows up on that particular number, but you have categorically proved DV is OK , because the Panasonic phone works , so it’s the individual DV handsets with a specific number that’s not working , and you got by previously without them .

You could try getting your daughter to call you but inserting 141 before they dial your number , this hides the CLI (calling line information) and monitor if the DV handsets now ring , they may display ‘no info’ or ‘anonymous caller’ or something like that as there won’t be any CLI to match against your stored contacts , however if you have your service set to reject anonymous calls this won’t prove anything, if the phone rings then you probably want to try deleting your daughter as a contact , and start from there .

  • Could be worth looking into the Call Protect functionality - https://ee.co.uk/help/home-phone/manage-use/call-protect - in case somehow your daughter's number has been added to the blocklist.

Numbers are blocked usually to stop someone communicating with your phone. For the sake of this discussion let us assume I wanted no communication with my daughter

However this fault does not stop my daughter communicating with me as she can leave me a voice message and my phone shows she called, and I missed the call.

Also I was on a call and I heard the tone to indicate someone was trying to call me; it transpired it was my daughter. I could have taken that call without knowing it was my daughter.

I can't think that is a blocked number.

As I stated in my first post, I have had DV for a year or so. Firstly using the latest BT hub and then the latest EE hub. I only changed to EE because my BT contract ended and with EE and BT merging as a company they were not offering new BT contracts(they are now!!)

With both BT and EE hubs the phone system did not have the issue with phones not ringing when my Daughter phoned

But that doesn’t alter the fact that you can return to the position you were in simply by dumping the BTDV specific handsets and using (as you once did) your Panasonic DECT phones , as far as why was everything OK for a long while with these DV handsets, and then suddenly develop a weird problem that seemingly affects only the incoming calls from a single relative , who knows , that’s the problem with cheap consumer electronics, it’s not worth the time and expense to debug , or worry about , generally you throw them away and replace them often with something better or in your case you have the option to use what you had previously.

As already advised, get your daughter to call you with 141 prefixed before your telephone number , provided you can receive calls with no calling line information ( so you don’t have anonymous call rejection ) , check if this call rings your DV handsets normally , if it does clearly when the CLI is when it is present is flagged somewhere either at network level or on your hub phone book as a call to be treated differently to others , this may be a bug rather than a setting in a menu somewhere.

Try factory reset your hub and your handsets if this ‘bugs’ you sufficiently, and turn off any network level call vetting (even if it’s only briefly while you ‘test’ ) you can always reinstate afterwards .

This morning my mobile rang , I didn’t recognise the number , it rang for only a second anyway , and TBH , I assume a wrong number , certainly not worth any further interest , but my Mrs said who was that , and that she has her phone set so any number like that , or recognised numbers you don’t necessarily want to speak to , are still displayed , so a visual indication when a incoming call is received, but the phone itself doesn’t ring , the idea that you don’t get disturbed by ringing , but if you notice the call you can vet it and decide to answer or not , the caller gets the option (after the ringtone ends if you have decided not to answer or you didn’t notice the visual signal because you would have answered ) to leave a message and the recipient gets the option because of this apparent missed call , to call back if they want , this is by design not a bug or error , it’s a setting on the phone , and it sounds very similar to the behaviour of your DV phones , and landline telephony these days is very similar to mobile telephony.

    Thanks for your input.

It is possible to turn off the ringer off on my phone and know someone is calling by the display lighting,

However my phone rings for all calls, other than my daughter's land line. There is no facility to select certain callers to have the ringer switched off.
