I have digital phones for over a year, two BT digital phones connected wirelessly and another older Panasonic via digital adapter. The internet provider is EE - was BT

I am phoned regularly, and have been for years, by my daughter from a landline in the remote Scottish Highlands; and I ring that landline regularly.

Over the past couple of weeks I have had missed calls from that number and a couple of voice messages saying that they had been trying to contact me. I had been in the house at the time of the calls and had no idea how I had missed the call.

A couple of days ago I was sitting by the phone when the phone screen lit up and it indicated an incoming call from that phone number. HOWEVER none of the phones rang which presumably has been the reason for the ‘missed’ calls. I picked up the phone and spoke as normal.

Over the past couple of days we have experimented and the same thing happens every time i.e. display lights but no ringing on any phone and picking up the phone I can speak as normal. My daughter tells me it sounds as if the phone is ringing. Brr Brr!

I do not have this problem with any other incoming call, both from a landline or mobile phone and I have no issues with my outgoing calls.

My daughter has no issues making outgoing calls to other landline numbers. She can call my landline from her mobile phone when she has coverage.

I have checked and have no barred numbers, but I would have thought a barred number would not be able to leave a message.

Any ideas?

Just so we're clear - this problem only occurs when you're being called from your daughter's landline?

Weird that it just happens for one phone number.
On mobile phones it is possible to assign a specific ring tone to a given incoming number / contact, which can be useful.
I wonder if somehow the EE hub has done something similar for your daughter's phone number, and unhelpfully associated it with a quiet/silent ring tone.
Do you have an EE app that lets you check your EE hub settings?

Yes. I get other calls both from Landline and Mobile numbers and they ring ok. With the digital system it will accept two calls and if I am on a call it will ring another phone and someone else can answer.

I was on another call and I got a beeping on my phone earpiece to notify me someone was calling me but the other phone(s) didn't ring. It transpired that it was my daughter calling.

As the system allows two simultaneous calls I can call my own number from another phone in the house and it rings OK.

In short my system appears to be working OK apart from receiving calls from my daughter's Landline. However my daughter has no problems with her non-digital copper wired system apart from this issue.

It is pertinent to add that both with BT and now EE(I had no option but to switch) I have had a number of issues with the digital phone system. Despite two of my phones being in close to a new EE router with a fibre connection getting over 900Mbps/100Mbps they occasionally lose their connection to this router. An easy task to reconnect.

A couple of weeks ago I had a number of problems with the system - not being able to answer calls and the phone showing and beeping that I had answerphone messages when there were no messages(I had to turn off the beeper.

I reported the issue to EE who stated that they could see that I had problems but their solution was to do a complete factory reset. . This entailed having to reconnect every device in the house to the router and as it had wiped my phone address book, I had to re- enter all the numbers,

As the system accepts two calls I can even ring my my own number from the same number

The phones are DECT not WiFi , so it’s not like using a laptop or tablet and in a poor WiFi area , it’s the same as any DECT phone system , FWIW , you don’t need the BT/EE phones or adapter , company’s like Sky don’t provide any kit when their customers are moved to IP telephony, they are expected to use the phones they already had , so if you don’t think the phones that were supplied by BT or EE for DV are any good , throw them in a cupboard and use the phones you already had

I agree but Digital phones have advantages in that you can easily divert calls from your land line to a mobile at no cost and two people can use the landline at the same time.

My point is that I have this system, I have paid for an extra digital phone and the system appears to be faulty, not the phones themselves. The link posted above by detail_merchant shows other people have similar, but not identical problems.

If I plugged my old master phone into the back of the router there is no guarantee that similar problems would not occur if the problem lies with the system and not the phones.

Plugging in your old phone and then getting your daughter to call you would let you identify where the fault lies, though.

It sounds as if all phones are connected using DECT, either the directly or via the Digital Voice Adapter. Unplugging the Panasonic phone from the adapter and connecting it direct to the router for the purposes of a test would determine if the issue is limited to the DECT environment or of the analogue port behaves the same.

It would be surprising if a dumb phone in the analogue port didn't just ring when told to, unless the phone itself was configured otherwise.

Have you accidentally managed to add your daughter's number to a blocklist on the phone?

On my mobile, if I block a number, the call still comes through, but the phone doesn't ring.

The saga continues!

Plugged my old master phone into back of router. Rang my home number from my mobile and both digital digital phones and master phone rang as normal. (both announcing that it was me calling)

Got my daughter in Scotland to phone my land line and Panasonic DECT phone connected to back of router rang(and announced who was calling).

However digital phones did not ring but screens on digital phone lit and screen showed who was calling. I spoke to by daughter on this digital phone.

So to summarise, the only difference plugging the DECT phone direct into the router made was that the DECT phone now rang - it didn't ring when it was connected wirelessly but only when receiving a call from my daughter's landline.

My daughters landline rings my DECT phone connected to the back of my router and all other calls she makes are without issues
