Joint account for 3

Recommendations for an easy access savings account for three members of same family? All to be able to operate the account individually ie. without requiring three signatures?

AI = Barclays allows up to four individuals(4 debit cards) on a single joint account.

I think the Barclays suggestion above is for a current account rather than an easy access savings account? so not sure if that would suit you.

It is possible to have a savings account in three names, but they're much less common than two-person joint accounts and you'd need to check the terms of the individual account.

Coventry BS is one to look at. Their general savings terms allow accounts to be held by up to four people and normally allow any one of the account holders to operate the account. However, some of their individual savings accounts restrict joint holders to two, so you'd need to check which of their current easy access accounts accepts more.

Hopefully someone who actually has a three-person savings account can suggest a specific one they're using.

Having multiple (usually up to 4) joint holders of savings accounts is pretty common among building societies.

Do you have a local BS branch you could try?

Getting the best available interest rate may make the choice rather more limited.

Tried Coventry because I currently have a joint savings account with them with 2 account holders but the account for 3 they offer only pays 2% interest. I tried the finder comparison site but I'm not looking for a current account. Does anyone have a decent interest paying account for 3 account holders?

As mentioned above I think you might find those 2 requirements mutually exclusive. Do you need 3 account holders or could you have the money split across 3 accounts for example?

Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

This money was the rent account our son paid into while at home and is now a rainy day account for the three of us now he's moved out. No one has needed to touch it yet but we would prefer to have it in three names just in case.

Up to you obviously, but in that scenario (in the parent role) I'd have the money in a two-person joint account paying decent interest, and gift some to the son if/when necessary (or as an up front lump sum for him to manage separately if some is considered 'his' money), rather than having him named on the account and missing interest earning opportunities because of that…
