I use citric acid powder dissolved in hot water, like to do it when I can boil the water for free being as it's MSE

As above or any other limescale remover ……. bleach wont do any cleaning/removal of limescale leaving everything sticking to it ..If you dont want the supermarket removers lemon juice or white vinegar is a start if the limescale is minor but you would need to remove the water and repeat if its bad .
When its real bad limescale like 1/8in thick you need the stronger acids and water removal first .
Buying loo blocks are just for looks and smell as blue water looks good even with a floater….. basically supermarket ripoffs for the lazy cleaners .
The post above regarding brushing the bowl with hot soapy water regularly or consistantly does work really well but it would still benefit from a limescale clean every now and again .
