EE, BT, Voda, SKY - Rate these from best to worst?

The problem can be if using cashback deals and offers from comparison sites, when comparing prices , is that it’s selective deals ,comparing a deal for one company from one comparison site to the full price of another company that may or may not have a similar deal elsewhere , nothing wrong with comparison sites ,but it’s naive to think there isn’t arrangements that favour certain companies that pay them more than competitors that don’t .

I did a quick search and found a headline offering upto £200 back for EE , plus your EE price isn’t the start price x24 , but is for Sky , adjusting those details would fundamentally change your comparison , some sites have a sweetheart deals with particular companies , I don’t know if your side by side comparison is looking at the best possible deals everywhere or you simply looked at one site that happens to favour Sky etc …..that’s why in my opinion your comparison is somewhat subjective, the correct comparison in my opinion is the list price, not deals that can exist one day snd not the next .

FWIW , Sky generally are a few ££ cheaper than EE , so still top of your table it’s just a little misleading to pick the best deal from one supplier and compare it to the worst deal for another , ignoring the fact deals on that other company may be available somewhere else .

I'm currently with Sky and one of the things and yes like you say, getting a third party router instead of relying on the (rubbish) one the ISP sends is definitely money well spent. You could then setup a nice mesh network, e.g. Eero (Amazon), Deco (TP-Link), Orbi (Netgear), Nest (Google), etc.

Ordinarily you can then usually set the ISP router to bridge mode/disable wifi and just have it act as a modem but annoying the Sky router (at least the sky max hub I received) didn't have a bridge mode, and disabling wifi still means you have the issue of double NAT. I initially used DMZ to as a workaround to resolve this but then decided to remove the Sky router from the setup entirely (as the ONT effectively acts as a modem). Can report I've been using Sky Broadband for about a month now of which only about 2 days using their router.

It might clear up some of the issues you have, my network is fast, accessing NAS is fluid, etc.

(Assuming you are on FTTP. If you are on FTTC, you will still need to use a modem for translation)

I’m using the MSE comparison tool for all of them, except EE, as it brings nothing up in my postcode. If you think it favours Sky, then maybe you should take it up with the site owners.

These prices are applicable to me specifically. I’m already with EE, so there will be no £200 backhanders or reward cards. There also won’t be a one-off activation fee. All this is accounted for in my spreadsheet, along with the March prices changes and landline charges (or lack of)

I wouldn’t say I was comparing one company’s best price with another company’s worst. EE are already charging me £39.99/mth. They have given me an “exclusive deal” of £29.99, this is the figure I used in my quote and which I still find rather uncompetitive. Landline “rental” is also added on, to the grand total. Note that Vodaphone and Sky don’t charge extra for that.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you work for EE! I have no vested interest in any of these companies. In fact, it’d be easier for me to stay put. You’re welcome to search around for EE Full Fibre 150 at less than £29.99/mth..and then add on the landline.

I don’t work for EE , or anyone else for that matter , as stated if Sky can offer you the cheapest service , that’s fine , they are a decent provider , just in my opinion using anything other that the list price to rate company’s ( if price is the major or only consideration) isn’t particularly illuminating, offers change all the time , who knows in a month that Sky deal may disappear and a different provider would be at the top of your list , and as far as pimping EE , I stated that Sky are cheaper , just generally not half the price , I don’t use EE for my home broadband.
