Admitted I was the driver… oops
Good evening everyone
This forum helped me out a ton when I had a pcn dispute years ago so hoping for some advice! Stupidly, I admitted to me being the driver (stupid mistake but I genuinely thought I could get the pcn removed) now I’m going through the pleasant experience of debt collection letters, and text messages coming to me 😁
I was parking in an ocean parking car park, using the Ringgo app. Never had an issue before, however, this said car park doesn’t charge you after 5pm. So at 3:39pm I selected three hours for my duration. However, it comes up with a message saying the time will be adjusted due to the the car park finishing at 5pm - so the tariff stays for the time between, but the hours says for the amount of time you selected (3 hours). So essentially I paid for 2 hours - not 3 even though I selected the right time the app just didn’t put the correct tariff. Very misleading, Also I have a receipt from M&S which is valid for 2 hours free which I didn’t redeem at the time… still not good enough for ocean parking :(
I am going to complain to M&S, Ringgo too, if anyone has any experience with Ringgo complaints?
My question is I admitted to being the driver so am I screwed now?
Thanks for ur help!

no your not screwed at all since your not paying it

Is the Ocean Parking pcn compliant with Pofa2012. ? If it was, then admitting that you was driving is not relevant to your defence, so it may be irrelevant in the scheme of things
They won't be getting a penny unless a judge says so in court

Brilliant response 🤣

On the letter it says 2 hours 39 minutes, however I did actually pay for 2 hours .. so now thinking about it they should have stated 39 minutes I ‘didn’t’ pay for? Could be a breach

But did it comply with Pofa2012 ? Yes or No. ?

In my opinion no. But I admitted myself to being the driver now so ..

So you complain about it as the driver
You defend the case as driver
You put the rest behind you and move on as is , and ignore Pofa2012 compliance or non compliance

simply because its the truth

Thank you for contacting us, and please accept our apologies for the stress and frustration this Parking Charge Notice (PCN) and debt collection process have caused. We can see that you used our service for this stay, and I am glad to assist you with the details of your session.
Looking at your app activity for 26 March 2026, our logs show that you first entered the app at 14:54, and your parking session was successfully started at 15:39 for vehicle at location for a duration of 3 hours.
response from Ringgo. Time to complain to ocean parking , I already appealed to the IAS which rejected my claim..1 -
Why are you talking to Ocean? They won't cancel it.
All you can do is wait for the court claim (if it comes). Your Ringo communication is good evidence, but it's of no use until you have to defend their court claim.
