PROBLEMS SWITCHING TO FUSE ENERGY

My 12 month fix with Tulo Energy ends on 31st August and I used the MSE Cheap Energy Club to find a new deal, commencing on 1st September. I chose to switch to Fuse Energy's 'August 2026 (18m) V5'. I have received an email from Fuse informing me that the switch was completed on 21st August and they require my meter readings. I wanted to stay on the cheaper Tulo tariff until the end of the month. What a mess Fuse have made of the switch. I feel like trying to cancel the switch.

Cancel it and go onto what? Likely something else even more expensive?

If you have proof you requested a different start date simply submit a complaint.

That doesn't sound like a mess, it sounds like a normal switch.

Did Fuse ever offer you a delayed switch, or was that simply your assumption of what would happen?

Did you start the switch yesterday 21/08 or was it a few days ago?

The way prices are going I would just carry on with switch and complain about the date being wrong and if you have screenshots of the date requested then it's a slam dunk.

It's not worth the hassle over 10 days on a different tariff.

How much energy will you use in those 10 days? How much more expensive is the new fix? Do a couple of sums to work out the difference and you'll probably notice that the extra cost is less than the cost of buying a cup of coffee..Is that worth stressing over?

What nobody has mentioned is that even if your old tariff had an exit fee, you can switch penalty-free within the last 49 days of your contract. So Tulo Energy cannot penalise you for switching 10 days before your contract with them expired.

I tried to switch to fuse yesterday. Unfortunately the photos they require of my meters weren’t acceptable because of the glare, which I can’t do anything about. I got nowhere with their live chat so gave up and have stayed with octopus, switching to their fixed tariff from their tracker.

On Wednesday I contacted Fuse as a prospective customer, because they stated that it would take up to 5 days for the switch to be completed. When I contacted Fuse, I was connected to a chatbot called 'Plugs', who assured me that once I signed up, I could change the start date to 1st September. I signed up and changed the start date to 1st September. However, yesterday I got an email ''Welcome to Fuse'', informing me that the switch was complete.

The Fuse chatbot 'Plugs' told me that once I had signed up to the switch, I would be able to select the start date. I did sign up and I chose the start date of 1st September. Fuse ignored that and carried out the switch on Friday 21st August.

I started the switch on Wednesday the 19th August and the switch took place on Friday 21st, instead of Tuesday 1st September. No, I didn't take a screenshot. The Fuse tariff is £28 per month more expensive than the Tulo tariff, from 11.5 months ago.
