Skipton Building Society - The Members' Draw
Comments

A friend of mine had email confirmation from Skipton as follows:
Continuous membership is calculated from when you joined Skipton. However, if you joined (as an example) in June 2025 – closed your account in September 2025 and then opened a new account in January 2026, your continuous membership would be calculated from January 2026.
Good to see that two Skipton employees have independently confirmed the same 👍️

I too when logged in to Skipton online banking could not see how long I had been a member, one way that did shed some light for me was to click on the 'secure message' link on the left of the screen, and the oldest secure message reply from Skipton to a question about the funding window was dated Nov 2010 (not an exact length of time as a member but it gave me some clue though to how long I had been a member).
I see from your earlier post that you can place a date on how long you have been a member due to your Icesave account being transferred back in December 2008. But for those that cannot remember, could maybe try looking at old messages under the 'secure message' tab (when logged in) - they may have sent or received a secure message from Skipton in the past.

Got excited for a bit. Then went to the Skipton website. Noticed the old “excludes Northern Ireland”… 🙄

You’d only have been a member since Nov 2010 if you still have that same account now. If you don’t, your continuous membership will be from when your oldest still open account has been opened.
I am sure you could ask Skipton how many entries you’ll have in the prize draw, but realistically it’s just nice to know, not critical, information.

Yes it is still the same account (the account number on the secure message from Nov 2010 is the same as my savings account number with them now - i think originally it was a FRB that matured and then the money got paid into this account), easy access account that I left a small balance in it as it was then easier over the years to open other fixed rate savings bonds (they used to offer good rates on fixed rate bonds but not now) with them as an existing customer.
Also kept it open in case they bought out any loyalty offers for existing customers.
Like you say its not critical, just thought I let others know to maybe check their secure messages as it may give them a clue (like it did for me) as to how long they have had an account with Skipton.

The only thing I've ever won in my entire life is £4 (from a £2.50 Euromillions ticket) so I'm not hopeful, LOL.

Northern Ireland has funny laws regarding gambling, which prevents residents from partaking in these things
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
I don’t think you have interpreted the response correctly but since it doesn’t much matter whether we know how many entries we have in the draw, I’ll leave this discussion now.

I interpreted the response exactly the same as @[Deleted User]. I'd be interested in how you think we are both wrong?

Yes, although I no longer have that ISA passbook or that particular cash ISA account with the Skipton, I had scanned in some of the documents from 2008.
There was a handwritten receipt, from the local branch, dated 8th December 2008 acknowledging receipt of the Icesave cheque and the relevant paperwork from the Government confirming my ISA subscriptions. The branch then forwarded all the paperwork and the cheque to their principal office.
I take it from this letter dated 17th December 2008 that my membership started on the 16th December 2008.
Anyway, it's nearly 18 years ago and I've always had several accounts running concurrently and no break in membership since then.
