Skipton Building Society - The Members' Draw
Comments
-
Skipton lets you view closed accounts online, so I can see a record of my membership back to Dec 2023. No evidence that they use this to determine length of membership though, but if you really wanted to challenge the number of prize draw entries you can produce the proof. With YBS there doesn't seem to be any way of viewing closed accounts.

I'd better bung £100 into one of the savers, first time in years I haven't had a decent amount with Skipton.

Not sure for how much longer I will be a member though
I saw that myself last night and wondered if it was just badly worded or meant the end of online access for everyone.
The best I could find was this…
I just hope "we're in the process of updating and improving Skipton Online too" means there will be ongoing online access and it is a case of the banner being poorly worded - although it should be noted that switching to the new app does mean not having online access "for a little while" (whatever that means).

I know Nationwide show the length of membership in online banking (not sure about the app).
I’ve not been able to find the equivalent information from the Skipton or Yorkshire website.

Just seen in another thread that there is an official @Skipton_Building_Society_Representative on board!
Would they please tell us what Skipton considers “continuous membership”? Thanks in advance
NB. I have been up and down the Skipton website and not found a definition2 -
Regarding YBS, you may not be able to view closed accounts in the app but it’s easy on the website. On the first screen, near the top, below your balance, you can toggle between open and closed accounts.

Hi, thank you for the mention. ‘Continuous membership’ is the period during which a member has continuously maintained a savings account with a minimum balance of £1, or a live mortgage account.
Also, please be assured that the Skipton app is optional. If you're a non-app user, you can continue managing your accounts via the website. Thanks - Skipton

Does one have to enter the draw, or are members automatically entered?

In this scenario, there hasn't been a gap in the continuous membership status, providing a minimum of £1 has remained invested. So, membership is from 1st January 2020. Thank you - Skipton

Thank you for clarifying this for us, since quite a few people in this thread had a wrong understanding / expectation. It would be good if Skipton did update the terms of the draw with the definition of “continuous membership”, or detail this elsewhere on your website.
