I had a problem with my EE router since an automatic firmware update in late July.

I changed the DNS on the router to

    OpenDNS :	208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220

and it seams to have fixed my problems with sluggish performance with youtube

Cloudflare or Google are the usual 2 DNS addresses used.

I went to the EE app to check the WebProtect status. I chose “manage” and very helpfully get a page saying that they are unable to show my current broadband package and to upgrade to a new one! Completely hopeless. If it wasn’t for the excellent phone deal I have on this old package then I would be moving to Virgin completely away from the old BT copper (now going part fibre) network and exchanges.

Unfortunately on this old Orange now EE account, on the EE website when I chose “manage” to get to WebProtect, it says this is not available on this account!

I have now come back to my problematic setup and have tried every version of Firestick with the new SH31b router and it still won’t run Netflix or BBC iPlayer (maybe others), it will run Prime.

So at a different location, an SH31b router with same Firesticks over EE will run Netflix and BBC iPlayer with direct Ethernet or Wi-Fi but at my home location another SH31b with same Firesticks won’t. I can’t check or change WebProtect on this account as described earlier (screen telling me to upgrade account when I choose manage)

I have screenshot the settings on the working location’s router so will now see what the problematic router’s settings are.

In the meantime I have written to EE complaining about this and asking them to cancel not postpone the fibre upgrade. I would leave them in a flash if I didn’t have such a good landline package with this account!

Have you tried changing the DNS either on the router or on your firestick?

Yes. Tried using Google’s 8,8,8,8 and 8,8,4,4 on both hoping that would fix things but no!

Bit confused about what the upgrade is from and to, as you mention copper, fibre and "now going part fibre" What exactly is the change to the broadband service, or is it just a migration of your voice service to digital voice?
