Never. Why can’t you see them folding? How much of this forum have you read? Even the ‘big beasts’ of the private parking industry fold when there is a determined, resilient opposition and defence. How many have you read where claims have got to court, and have been lost vs those that have never got there, but always discontinued?

This hasn’t even reached the debt collector stage, let alone a solicitor involvement. Believe us, it’s the latter stage you want and where you’ll be able to kill this off. Patience, trust and resilience will see this out of your hair!

Is there any point trying to challenge them on the whole 'event tariff doesnt specify that its for cars only'?? Does the wording of the Event Tariff not create an ambiguity, as it doesn't expressly exclude vans?

Just wait for a formal Letter Of/Before Claim. That’s the point you need to wait for (if it ever happens). Until then, ignore any debt collector letters (should they come). You’re a long way away at the moment. Relax, but do plenty of reading so you know what to do … if it does!

No, because all that would be doing is begging them to cancel their invoices.

Remember the onus is on them to do anything and prove everything. Sit back and let them do what they want. But you're covered, which is all you could do.

It's an amateurish parking company run by a family that have multiple different companies or dissolved companies that are unrelated to parking such as; wholesale clothing, property management, property development, investments etc all with different registered addresses.

Jacks of all trades, they will try frightening with a few scary debt collectors letters.

Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. I completely understand what you're saying, and I appreciate that you guys have far more experience with these cases than I do.

The problem I'm having is that, honestly, I just don't think I have the headspace for the whole process. 😅

I absolutely despise the idea of paying them because I genuinely think its predatory way to nab van drivers. Parking was paid for on all occasions. It's the absurd £60/£100 PCNs that really tick me off.

But at the same time, the thought of months of reading up on parking law, dealing with debt collectors,especially if they turn up at the door (probably unlikely i know), keeping track of deadlines, potentially dealing with a Letter Before Claim and then having to prepare a defence is honestly exhausting me just thinking about it. I know the advice is to sit back and let them do the work, but I also know myself and I'd probably be worrying about every letter that comes through the door.

So I'm torn between 'sod them, I'm not paying these crooks' and 'forget it, pay the £120 and never have to think about it again'

I appreciate all the advice and I'm not making a decision immediately. I just wanted to explain why I'm considering paying despite everyone telling me not to. It's less about believing they've got a strong case and more about whether £120 is worth the peace of mind to me personally.

Just do nothing then! Sit on your hands.

Nobody is making you read up on anything. Do nothing at all unless your address changes which you obviously must tell them.

You have the head space to do nothing and get on with real life stuff. Trust us. We'll do the research and will be here if & when a LBC arrives.
