Kent Reliance - is this ethical?

Could be. Posts in the other thread imply that accounts are being moved in batches over an extended period of time. So the dates, and exactly what was communicated in advance about the change, would be relevant.
It seems like @rallycurve has strong feelings about not being able to contribute to the ISA, so if it were made apparent that this was going to happen, I think it likely that would have elicited a fairly prompt objection and discussion about what could be done in response.

I'd have to find the exact dates of my communications with KR but there was no mention of what to do if you disagreed with the changes in their email informing of the changes (as opposed to the same email referring to easy access accounts!). And they never mentioned I was too late to opt out when I contacted them.
It might be relevant to mention that this initial email did not contain a final date from when the new terms and conditions would apply but it simply said it'd be sometime after the 1st of July, with the exact day to be confirmed closer to the time. I believe I contacted them once they told me the actual date my accounts would move

I was given a 30 days penalty free exit by Kent Reliance. I cited a breach in the terms and conditions in my correspondence to them.

Well done you. Thats more like it. That's the kind of response I would expect from Kent Reliance.
Everyone else who's not happy with the changes can follow suit and expect similar treatment.

Well I raised a complaint and they upheld it acknowledging they were unilaterally changing the t&c to my disadvantage yet they did not allow me a penalty free exit, only a small compensation payment

Small Claims Court for recovery of penalty charge ?

Why on earth do that when there's the Financial Ombudsman Service that is completely free and can consider both fairness and the law?

Well obviously we aren't all as knowledgeable as you. It would be nice if you could phrase your responses in a more friendly way.

It didn't occur to me that a long-standing forumite with almost as many years around these parts as me would be unaware of the FOS. I apologise.

I wonder if the staged move over to the new system is to prevent lots of complaints at the same time. They should have left the open ISA accounts on the old system until maturity and put new ones on the new system.
