None of these remotely suggest a runway closure unless there was a wood pigeon in the way?0 -
Ive just re-read the opening post.
Not sure why they would need to "fly in a new crew" to Bristol, its a base for Easyjet, there will be crews on standby.
Anyway, Ive just started a 7 day free trial on Flighradar to look at the Bristol departure board on the 14th July.
The following planes all DEPARTED at the following times that morning
1002 Easyjet BCN
1009 Ryanair TFS
1034 Easyjet ALC
(this is where your plane SHOULD have departed)
1100 Easyjet SEN
1106 Easyjey VCE
In fact, steady departures all morning and early afternoon until yours left at 1357.
So "runway closure" is, in my opinion, a nonsense. Could easily have been ATC restrictions that day though, which the app won't tell me. None of the above were heavily delayed though as far as I can tell

You're amazing, thanks for doing that. I used up my 7-day free plan helping someone else with a claim a few months ago (suppose I could of used a different email).
I also think they are talking nonsense too, but the problem is I have a terrible memory and did attempt to write down what the pilot said exactly (because I knew the airline would try and weasel out of the compensation).0 -
Unless they mean the runway was closed for "an amount of time" when they were due to take off but surely all runways are closed multiple times during the day for arrivals?

Looking at the times of departures certainly no prolonged period where there werent flights, Bristol isnt an airport on the scale of Gatwick or Manchester so there will always be lulls, but flights departed at…
0902 0911 0916 0926 0944
1002 1009 1034 (1035 - this is when yours should have left, but didn't)
1100 1106 1109 1134 1154
1223 1251
1303 1329 1332 1338 1344 1346 1349 1353 1357 (yours)
Conversely, arrivals….
0910 0934
1008 1017 1021 1024 1045 1053
1122 1130 1133 1136 1153 1156
1208 1214 1217 1219 1222 1235 1238 1241 1243 1246 1249 1250 1258
1301 1310 1313 1317 1342 1351
Having a load of arrivals in the 1200 hour and a load of departures in the 1300 hour isnt anything to read into, this is normal given the 0600-0700 bank of departures would be arriving back at base 1200-1300 to operate another set of flights.
Bristol only has one runway, runway 09/27
