Doesnt surprise me its Virgin. Have had previous issues with them blocking transfers, then because its weekend you cant speak to anyone to push it through. Then they refuse to reimburse you for lost interest since money was going to a savings account paying decent rate. (Would've been coppers anyway but its not the point, their customer services just constantly pass the buck)

Sorry I'm old fashioned and didn't even think about phone payments! It looks like there is no limit!! How incredibly insecure, you provide the authorisation without seeing the amount and there's no limit 😮
Good reason never to use phone payments, I'll stick with cards and PIN!

I always see the amount before I tap.
If the reader is presented to me so that the screen isn't visible, just ask for it to be moved so that it is. It's really simple!
Blindly tapping to authorise a payment, without knowing the amount, is just bonkers.

No, you do see the amount on the terminal. Whether you read it is something else…

How is it "hardly practical" to look at the terminal screen ? I just wait for the amount to appear before tapping my phone.

It all depends on what type of payment terminal is used. Which shop was it?

There’s no till nearby with a screen pointing at you?

Phone is more secure as youre normally using finger print to authorise. However, regarding the value on the terminal, loads of vendors just chuck at you without showing. However its within your rights (actually is your responsibility) to ask to see the value being paying
