Modern speedos are nowhere near that inaccurate, he will certainly have been speeding, but 35-36 is much more likely
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

One of the HGV drivers got a ticket 50mph where he was legally restricted to 40mph back then. Even though the
ticket said 50mph he knew the exact moment he got caught and he was flat out on the limiter at 56mph.
If the ticket said 34mph he was probably closer to 40mph.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I believe you're right about the speed/limit. I reckon it's 34 in a 20.
Otherwise it is odd that no course was offered for either - unless it was in Scotland (we don't know).
Also odd , as above, is one offence disposed off by way of a FP and the other - just eight minutes apart - only just notified (once again, we don't know what stage that is at).
Furthermore, it is likely that the first offence took longer than 14 days to see to completion which would make the second NIP (if indeed it is that which has just arrived) late.
So many questions.

I would say it may be more like 36 to 38 , very unlikely to be as low as 35

I'm unfortunately in the process of testing exactly this…took my eye off the speedo and when I saw a camera van, realised I was doing 35 in a 30….I tend to think my speedo over reads by around 2MPH but I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks!
I certainly hope you are right!

Speedo 35 in 30 will be safe as houses.
The "speed info display" signs are always good for mentally calibrating your speedo. On my Nissan, the speedo reads about 4mph above the displayed speed, so to be actually nicked, you really would have to be reading about 40 in a 30.0 -
Are you sure he was prosecuted for doing 34mph in a 30mph zone? I was under the impression that enforcement started at 35mph (10% over plus 2mph) and even then he may have been offered a speed awareness course for his first offence.
I’d be interested to see the redacted NIP if available.0 -
As suspected OP hasn't been back. The search for an NIP for 34 in a 30 continues.

Facebook post yesterday ‘20mph speed limit is ridiculous. All these people getting tickets at 22 or 23mph’
I called them out on it - but unsurprisingly nothing.

Nothing on FTLA either. Since the OP has started threads 4 times, 3 in 2014 then this one, I'd suggest it is an inactive account which has been hacked and posted on by AI.
