Hi Can anyone help? I have a Lloyds TSB platinum card and was offered 0% for 9 months if I transfer a balance within 6 weeks of my last statement. I have paid off my existing debt and now want to BT some onto this empty card. I can't find the original letter with the code on it and LLoyds are now only offering 4.9% Bt for 6 months. Did anyone else get the offer letter and can they tell me what the code is please?

Have you tried phoning them up and saying you got the letter? Won't always help, but sometimes companies will honour it. They may even have a record of having sent you the offer.

    Hi

I applied for a balance transfer about 3 or 4months ago. The company MBNA simply rejected. My experian is all fine apart from 3 late payments with Orange. I have a Vanquis creditcard which I would love to rip off but I first need to do a balance transfer of 1K before I can do that. I am on job seekers allowance at the moment but I desperate need another creditcard or a loan. I want to apply but I wont say I am unemployed right now otherwise its impossible to get approved. How possible is that?? I just need to pay a few things off and brieth for 2 months to sort out things n the best possible way. What should I do, I can't wait to build up a nice credit score. Which company I am better of asking for a creditcard or loan if I was rejected by MBNA on a balance tranfer for life? Experian said to me that they do not have any record about me being rejected so that the bank checked another credit agency or there was some wrong information that I should check. Can i apply again as I cant wait? Or is it better to try opening another bank account and ask for a overdraft?

Any help appreciated please. THanks a lot.
    Kind regards,

Like someone else said, you're unlikeley (rightly so) to get any more credit whilst ur on JSA.... especially from a company like MBNA.

With regards to the credit search, it's possible that somthing in your application meant you woulld be automatically rejected before them even needing to do a credit search (such as your employment status). Get some work if you can, then make sure you pay everything on time, then your credit score will imporove... good luck

Am new to this site, but I have just been turned down for an egg card to transfer a balance. I have an existing loan with them but have just transferred a balance to a different card.Am trying to sort out my finances at long last. I'm not sure what to do now. Is it worth me applying for another one? I checked my credit score and its good and I never miss any payments. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey, I wouldn't really apply for an egg credit card even for balance transfers at the mo because of the fiasco they played with their existing customers a few months ago. Even those with good standings were told their accounts would be closed, i kno a few people who were with them. Best to stay clear for the time being anyway.

The question to which you have responded was posted on this thread 4 months ago (7 Jan 2008) and was answered that same day.

I've just applied for a Barclays (Life Of Balance 6.3%) CC. I noticed there are no handling fees on that one so if you have larger debts that you have no way of paying off within the 0% interest period you may want to go for that instead.

Hope I'm accepted, I haven't applied for any credit for well over a year, lived in my house for over 13 years, am on the electoral roll, have no defaults, missed payments or CCJ's. Hope that's enough.

I just want to pay off my debts at a fair rate. I don't mind paying someone a fair amount to look after the money I spent that I didn't have to spend. It's my pennance! lol

Hi, New to the site and definite about doing something to sort out my debts. After reading this post, I applied last Friday to barclaycard. Got accepted and received card today, which is Monday! :D I thought, that because when I applied online and was sent to a page that said they couldn't make an immediate decision, I would be rejected. Well, I wasn't. I always pay all my bills, but have to admit to having paid a day or so late on occasion. Interest is 6.5% with no handling fee.

Just thought I would let you all know, in case you also are considering this card.

    Best regards,

  • I have just been given a Virgin CC on 0% finance, I have about 8k in outstanding debt on other cc's but didn't want to risk being refused so only asked to transfer 5.5k. Got a £16.5k limit agreed immediately.
Just want to say it def worth checking all your credit files, 6 months ago I got turned down, then recently I realised that Equifax hadn't updated my electoral role details yet Experian had it correct. I have a good credit history, mix up min payments with paying off cards and keep everything on low BT rates. Just want to say to people def check these files because it does make a difference.

My question, now that I have this larger limit, will Virgin allow me to call them up and transfer the remaining amounts on the 0% rate as I want to make good use of this great offer?

Absolutely. You can transfer up to 95% of your Virgin credit limit.

Congratulations & thanks for posting.
IMO, it's worth checking your credit reports at least once a year. Mistakes do happen, as you've discovered.

  • I have read on the website about the new Abbey Zero card that has 0% on Bal Trf's and has a 0% fee, as well as being free to withdraw cash and use abroad. This sounds all too good to be true! Does anyone have one of these cards and is it really that good?
And can anyone tell me how to calculate what my minimum monthly repayments would be for a £3000 balance?

    Thanks

This new card was only launched on Monday 28 April, so a little too early to say.
