Hi Peeps thank you for the advice.. Balance swapped to 0% Balance transfer Credit Card for 26months with Barclaycard
Once all confirmed I will cut up HSBC Card into a zillion pieces.. Can't wait & am sure it will a fantastic feeling to get that balance down. Thank you so much for the help on this forum
You need to contact HSBC to actually close the account, not just cut the card up as they will just send you another one when that one expires.
Congrats on getting the BT, that's the card I would have gone for too.0 -
26 months is fantastic, longest I've got is 13 months. make sure you pay it off though, if you use it what is the interest?LBM; Nov 2010 27206.14

I got a Platinum Barclaycard to transfer a balance from a TOPSHOP store Card. Twice the transfer has failed. Barclaycard blame Topshop and Topshop blame Barclaycard. Has anyone else experienced this problem?0

Hello there.
I wonder if anyone can offer any advice. I've had a HSBC mastercard, now visa for the last 4/5 years. Always paid it off at the end of each month or half one month and the other half the following month. I were advised originally to take the card out after being told not all credit cards are bad etc & it was good to have it as I'd never had any credit.
15 months ago I found out I were expecting and were in fact five months pregnant so as you can imagine after the shock of this & only just changed jobs we had a lot of expense & I started to pay the minimum payment, which I'm STILL paying!
My partner works but is a self employed builder so work is hit & miss which means we are on a low income. I need to clear this balance as I'm getting nowhere fast, I owe £498 the interest rate is 20% would I be able to transfer the balance even though it's a fairly low amount? This is the only debt we have but it's causing me stress knowing it's sat there like a big black cloud.
Any help I'd be extremely grateful & if you got this far, thanks for reading.
Kind Regards

Sarah, if you transfer the balance with a 3% fee then that's £15, your monthly interest will be about £8 a month so that's only two months interest and you're saving. If you can get 12 months at 0% then you save £80. Start applying as soon as...just make sure it's paid off before the end of the 0%, or be prepared to do another transfer then.LBM; Nov 2010 27206.14

benjaro, I'm paying about £35 a month on £13k.
ratty, make sure you're putting in the correct number and expiry date and it should transfer, if not phone them and they'll talk you through it and confirm it.LBM; Nov 2010 27206.14

I hope I have joined the correct forum and apologies in advance if I haven't.
My wife has balances on two cards and the interest free period for both has ended. There are offers for zero % on one card for 12 months and 6.9% for the life on the other. Is it possible to transfer the balance from card 1 to the zero % on card 2 then transfer the original balance from card 2 to the 6.9% rate on card 1. Another credit card is not an option!:)
Can foresee problems with this but maybe there is a foolproof way?
Thanks0 -
I don't see any problems if the providers are not from the same group and the limits are big enough.0

Looking for some ideas here folks,
Been in my current home for 7 months (just bought our first house), previous place was over 20 years.
When I do the " eligibility test" for the 0% balance transfer cards, putting the 7 months down suggests a negative, but putting the 20yr address down suggests a good chance of getting it.
If I were to go to a full application, would the decision take the long period at the previous address into account- I.E would the decision not be adversely affected by only being at current address for 7 months?
I dont want to be applying for anything that will have an adverse affect on my credit report..
thanks!0 -
it's a dark mystery how they make their decisions, just apply once or twice a year and see what they offer. I wouldn't worry about getting an adverse credit report, credit scoring or anything, if they feel like it at a particular time on a particular day they'll wave a magic wand and you'll get the deal.LBM; Nov 2010 27206.14
