HELP!!! Does anyone know of any credit card that will let me do a balance transfer from a catalogue account?? Got told by Natwest that they would, then when i got the card and called to do the transfer they told me they didn't transfer catalogue debts!!!

My wife had debt on a next account, moved it by getting a 0% purchase card and paying catalogue off with it.

  • Be careful with the cheques sent to you from certain credit card companys. They don't all qualify for 0% and you can end up having interest bearing debt and your payments paying down the 0% stuff. Sharp practice.
  • Just joined this site I have a 3 grand overdraft and have not got any spare income to clear it off quickly was thinking about a balance transfer not sure how this works in a way that would save me my overdraft charges would only be able to pay minimum repayment until end of 0% term then transfer to another card if i could. Can anyone explain how this would work

Best thing is to post on the debt free board - statement of all income and outgoings - see sticky at the top of the site - and people will be along to help you sort things out. Don't apply for any more credit for the minute as this will adversely impact your credit record.

Tesco are sending letters out offering 12 months 0% (3.95% fee) with 12 months interest free on purchases as well.Might be worth phoning and asking for it.

    Hi,
Just asking a question on behalf of a family member.

They have 7k of various debt from catalogues and a credit card, could they transfer this debt to a 0% card like the Barclays one here?

    http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/landing/platinum414.html?WT.mc_id=1161069039776440-&TC=JFMSP20888&mpch=ads

Or does anyone have a better card suggestion?

    Thanks.
  • Recently got stung by Virgin as one payment (more than minimum amount) was delayed due to not being set up correctly by my bank-Virgin have withdrawn 0% offer and charged what they describe as 'standard' rate i.e 20.6%. Have got this changed today to 1.9% (lowest rate available) but told that this would not apply immediately and would show on my next statement. How can they do this?! Seriously considering transferring balance to First Direct.

Can I reclaim the interest charged due to a late payment being made? How efficient are banks with reimbursing customers in this situation?

    Please help!
  • Yes manhatten that is possible, so long as they have always paid their bills it sounds feasible

Do you know if the new BT card from Halifax (0% for 15 months with 3% handling fee) will allow for BT's directly into a current account?

I have a car loan of approx £5k outstanding at 14.9% APR with 20 months of the 36 month loan period remaining. My agreement was with GE Money who were bought out by Santander. I originally posted some time ago and was informed that MBNA cards allow transfers of loan debts but since Santander now own them also this shift of debt becomes complicated. Any cards currently allow BT into a current account? Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.
