Hi, Asda said that when they punched in the card number it came up that they do not do any BT from that card company.0

It's a new one on me, but if they're not willing/able to transfer a balance from that card then nothing you can do. You could ask them if they would send you a credit card cheque at the promotional rate, but that would involve customer service and Santander aren't known for that.
I'm assuming they didn't give you any options or alternatives?
Only other option would be to bounce it through another card, but that means 2 BT fees. And the bounce card needs to be able to BT to the Saga card.
I.e. Saga card -> bounce card

AFAIK Abbey Zero and Santander Zero are identical cards now. Others are trying the cancel and reapply option but no reported successes yet - decision is not immediate when you apply (just helped a family member apply for one).
thanks for that... as I thought then. Same cards.
Will need a balance transfer option this summer, and as my balance on Abbey zero is well... zero!.... think it makes sense to shut that one down, and I hope I can get the Santander one in a few months time... :j
thanks for your help!
edit: would probably be sensible when calling just to find out if there is a minimum period of time that needs to elapse before I can reapply.0 -
Had an A&L card which has now become MBNA.
Are they likely to offer good balance transfers from Barclaycard?
This is likely to be later in the year.
Will it help to be buying little bits and bobs on MBNA every month in the meantime?Been away for a while.0 -

Not heard much about decent MBNA offers on existing cards recently, who knows what later in the year will be like.
There's some evidence that spending on the card encourages offers in your online area, but no guarantee on it being a decent offer."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Hi guys, Need some advice.
I have a graduate personal loan with HSBC for nearly 20,000, paying it monthly 360 for next 5 years [approx]. Interest rate for that is 8.9% and i CANT repay it early by depositing money on/off.[ like a mortgage]
I have 2 credit cards- tesco,[ credit limit - 4500] with balance of 2000 and Virgin money card [Credit limit -9000],which i opened nearly 2 years before and used the 0% balance transfer for 15 months offer. I am using my Virgin card for regular purchases and paying off full balance by monthly direct debit.
I would like to clear the personal loan for 2 reasons -- 1.high interest rate. 2. cant repay it earlier even though i have some money.
I have a promotion offer with Virgin card, for LOB 6.9%. I would like to shift the personal loan into LOB card so that i can repay it quickly and also i can have it for less interest.
So my plan was to apply for onether MBNA VISA CARD with LOB 5.9% and transfer the balance from existing VIRGIN into newly opened MBNA visa card. Then i can pay only 5.9% and also can repay it in a span of 1-2 years.
I am aware that their is a fee of 4 % as the money i believe would be deposited in my current account first.
Would you guys think i am doing any good by trying this?.
I have pretty good credit score and never missed payments, earning around 50,000 salary, own a house.
Any other suggestions regarding other credit card deal for LOB?
sorry for the lengthy mail.
Would appreciate very much for any help.
Thank you MSE.0 -

You can't do a BT between two cards from the same family like MBNA.
EDIT: Ah, you'll be paying it via money transfer to your account first, gotcha. You can increase the amount you transfer by moving any unused part of your credit limit from your Virgin card to your new MBNA card."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -

i'm wondering if any of you can help.
Got almost 5k on an egg cc with a 17.9% interest rate.
I'm thinking of transferring the balance to a 0% card but was wondering if people had an opinion/vague idea (shot in the dark i know) on what would be the most likely for me the be accepted with a 5k limit?
I see Virgin/MBNA and Santander have fairly long term 0% balance tranfers. Is one better/easier to get than the other?
I have slight ties with Santander already with a cahoot credit card with no balance and a 1k limit, a cahoot account with a few pounts on it thats hardly used and a cahoot loan going into its final year with 2k left on it.
So would i be better or worse off trying for a card with Santander or should i avoid them and try MBNA who i have no ties with? Or is there someone else i should try?0
