If you transfer the balance when the 0% runs out you will save the most money but watch out of the transfer fees.0

Great i have been ken on Halifax of late and i like what they are doing.
The Hally pulled that offer more than 12 months ago :rolleyes:People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
After checking recommendations for best balance transfer in order to apply for a card for 0% Balance transfer I applied for Santander card. After phoning for authorisation, setting up on line details, and then phoning to transfer a balance from my daughter's card I am told only accept transfers from cards with my own name. What a waste of time applying, phoning, and returning forms, - I did not notice any note of this on Santander forms or in your recommendations which show no restrictions.
If this is true can you recommend a card that will allow a transfer like this?

@Richard: How long did it take for Santander to give you a decision after applying?0

Also, we've repeatedly warned of Santander's dire customer service on this thread. For anyone else reading, if you decide to chance your arm, it's best to apply in branch. Online, telephone and postal applications are still subject to long delays, apparently. From feedback here, there's a four week backlog of applications for the Santander Zero card :rolleyes:Can you recommend a card that will allow a transfer like this?People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Anyone thinking of applying for a Satan-der credit card, might like to know you can now apply online for the 15month interest free card via the(sh)abbey,s website.
(certainly not recommending it though)I have a deep burning indifference0 -
Hi, I would be grateful for some advice as my husband and I have credit card debts which we are determined to repay asap. Between us, we have cards with MBNA (him), Halifax (him), Barclaycard (one each), Virgin (me) and Capital One (me). We have never missed a payment or paid late on any of them and we are both in regular work, home-owners, on electoral roll etc.
Yesterday I rang round them all and switched the dearest balances onto the Halifax and both Barclaycards at rates of 7.92% and 6.99% respectively. All the debt is now at a low rate of interest, except for £4200 with Virgin which I have nowhere left to transfer to and is being charged at 29.9%. Obviously this is now my priority debt and I should apply for a new card. I applied for a Co-op Bank card but received an instant, automated refusal which has shaken my confidence a bit. I would ideally like a life of balance transfer though if none are likely to accept us I would apply for a 0% short-term one.
Can anyone suggest a lob card from a different supplier which might accept us? Or do you know if any of the cards we already hold would accept the other partner for one?
Any advice gratefully, received. Thanks.0 -
I need some help with Balance Transfers please - my brother has asked for help and I know nothing about this area!
My brother has the following credit cards:
Halifax: £7500 debt
Citibank: £3500 debt
Barclaycard: £2500 debt.
Don't have full details of actual cards but interest rates are all between 25% and 29.9%.
He is currently meeting minimum payments but can't do so for much longer.
What is his best option in terms of BT - will any card accept £13,500 or will he have to set up multiple BT cards?
Can anyone recommend any specific cards that would reduce his interest on a long-term basis (these debts will be around for at least another year, probably longer).
Thanks
Dave0 -
I very much doubt any card will give a credit limit of £13500 so would be best to apply for 1 -3 new cards with good balance transfer rates. Space these applications out a little, maybe a month at a time, and transfer as much as possible from current cards onto new cards as soon as you activate them.
ensure new cards you apply for aren't from the same providers (i.e. Virgin Credit Cards are provided by MBNA) as this may affect your ability to transfer at 0% interest and you will wasted an application.
Good luck - can be a long process but there is added motivation from not seeing payments swallowed up by interest0
