Yes, most credit decisions are computerised and lenders give instant decisions, provided that your details can be verified electronically via the CRAs.Should I now wait before trying to apply elsewhere? ... I have a few interest-free debts running out in the next 4-6 weeks.
If you need a new BT card in 4 weeks or so, there's nothing to be gained from waiting, IMOPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

There are any number of reasons why a given lender may refuse to extend credit.
If I were you, I'd play safe and plump for the Hally. The minimum monthly payment is just 1% of the balance shifted. Also, it's not an exact science but, IME (and from feedback here), Halifax tends to hand out fairly generous credit limits.

Thanks again Moggles, you really are a legend on this board and I'd buy you a pint if I could!
I think I can afford to wait six weeks or so, build up my score with some purchases in the meantime, then I'll try for the Hally. My worry with that as I said is I have had a few charges on my Hally current account in the past year but hopefully I'll be OK. Thanks again and keep up the sterling work!0 -

If you do decide to apply for the halifax card you can get £20 cashback on successful application through QUIDCO.
Good luck.0 -

That's very cool to hear.

So what service did you use to get your credit report number? I read the article and didn't find it anywhere though I'm not sure if it's actually important or not but the information can greatly vary from source to source. For premium mortgages at discount prices we recommend UK Mortgage Specialists0

Hiya
I have an M&S credit card with approx £1000 on it, its 10 month deal is coming to an end in August and i want to switch it, when and can anyone recommend a good 0% card as need to pay it off with in a year ideally.:money:0 -
Hi all, finally got round to registering here!
here's my current situation:
i stupidly allowed my 2 current credit cards to go over their 0 % interest period, so i need to sort this out asap!
i have 2 cards: tesco with about 2.5k on it. i've only ever used this to clear a BT.
Plus my BoS card which i am unfortunately spending on and is currently at approx. 5600 quid.
Ok, so i need to transfer 7850.
i think i previously had a virgin card before these 2 (so about umm .. 14 months ago) - cleared and closed it.
Options - do i apply for another virgin card 0% for 16 months?
or go for the Abbey card in case virgin will turn me down?
OR
should i go for one of those life of the debt, fixed rate cards? i hope to be able to repay the whole thing in about 3 years, but clearly i am a bit lax in my tarting skills so this might be better for me?
tho the tarting alert here will sort that! I'm just concerned that the BT will be too large to transfer altogether?
or finally, what about a dreaded bank loan and then vow never to be tempted by the evil plastic again?
its just so tricky to avoid having to use it sometimes isnt it? How do people manage that? i have 16 yr old twins who are always needing something or other!
Thanks for reading and i'm sorry if this has all been covered already .. its a vey long thread!
i got my card and credit limit thru, unfortunately its only for 5000. i'm going to have to apply for another card now, yes? would the Abbey be the one to go for then?0
