Weird experience on BT email

I was writing a lengthy e-mail on my i-pad when suddenly AI took over and added words without my control. When I tried to delete the new words I lost most of what I had written. This has never happened before. Any explanations?

I then wrote what I wanted to say as a Word Document and sent it as an e-mail attachment, which I should have done in the first place.

It sounds more like predictive text or Apple Intelligence than AI "taking over".

Occasionally the keyboard can suggest or insert text if a suggestion is accepted accidentally, especially if you brush the screen while typing. I've also had apps behave oddly from time to time, although I've never lost most of an email because of it.

Writing a long message in Word first was probably a good idea. It also means you've got a copy if anything goes wrong before you send it.

Out of interest, which app were you using to write the email, the built-in Mail app or something else?

I use outlook/hotmail and have had some sort of AI/predictive text thing happening occasionally. I suspect that I have inadvertently clicked on something to turn this function on - I've done this in the past in other systems - and then I need to figure out what I've done and turn it off. Might be something as simple as clicking Alt-something instead of Ctl. I'm doing this a lot currently as I've an injured hand and my normal touch typing isn't really working properly.

    BT email.

Yes, I guess I just touched something, but it produced not just single word suggestions, but whole new sentences. I haven’t worked out what I did and it hasn’t happened again.
