Which washing machine to buy
Hi all,
We currently have an Indesit washing machine that's lasted about 2 yrs before the programming panel became wonky and it developed a leak in the powder drawer.
We're looking for a new washer but there's just so much choice and in the new throaway age we don't know what to choose.
I know Miele is the best brand but they're very expensive and some poeple say they're not as good as they used to be, we had a Miele fridge years ago and it was rubbish
LG look great but then again not sure if the build quality is as good as Miele, plus i heard customer service on Trustpilot is terrible
We've had a Bosch before 20-30 years ago and that was rubbish.
I'm kinda tempted by the Hisense ones but not sure if that's good?
Can anyone help?

They have their haters but I've always found Which? reviews for white goods to be pretty reliable.

Personal experience: replaced 10yo Samsung with another Samsung 3 years ago, no issues.

My local library doesnt offer which magazines and I cant really access the library computers unless i ask my daughter to nip up in the week
Samsung washers I heard are a bit gimimcky and i dont want gimmicks id rather have something simple to use and built to last. I do about 20-30 loads of washing a week

I do about 20-30 loads of washing a week
Stop looking at domestic machines.
At that level of use you need a commercial washer.

I wouldn't have said I needed one of them surely, we're only a family of 4 and i thought that was an average amount of washing to do?

Also i dont want to spend a fortune on a washer, all the commercial ones are really expensive and to be quite honest i havent got that money to spend right now

About a month ago I had to source a new washing machine for my parents as their 15 year old Hotpoint finally gave up the ghost. Happy to look at Siemens, AEG, John Lewis.
Opted for an entry level, nice and simple controls AEG 9kg 1400 spin from John Lewis. It was about £380 on clearance. John Lewis branded machines are also the same AEG machines,

You do not need a commercial machine. However 20 to 30 loads a week is very much on the high side, and is going to test the long term reliability of a domestic machine. Probably not surprising that your Indesit struggled.
Probably wise to go for a better quality one, some have 5 year warranties.
We do a lot of washing and the last Siemens ( a Bosch really) lasted 8 years with one repair, so we got another one. Relatively simple controls. However the one we get is not available anymore and the cheapest Siemens seems to be around £700, so if I was buying one now, I would buy a similar Bosch, as in most ways they are the same anyway. Something like this, although only a 2 year warranty.

Even if you are half filling the machine, 20-30 washes is around 90-100kg of washing per week. That's bonkers for a domestic machine!

No that's normal for a family of two adults and two children with various sports activities and changes out of school/educational uniform into leisure clothes and a household that takes cleanliness seriously so bed and towel washes regularly.
For the OP
As others have suggested to the OP a machine with a 5 year warranty
Consider a larger load machine 12-13kg that could reduce your loads per week.

Yes to clarify i have two adult children, it was about 30-40 loads when they were back in school but now theyre both in fulltime work and their uniforms get washed every day in this heat, we also wash towels after every use cause i cant stand a wet towel or to use a towel someone else has used
We actually have two laundry baskets because the washing wont fit into one, and even they get crowded😅
I know Miele is expensive because theyre designed to last a long time ive heard theyre only 2 year warranties and apparently the wash cycles are very slow and given how many loads i need to get done and out on the line each day this wouldnt be practicval
So we are reconsidering the Bosch, particularly a series 6 one i found on AO https://ao.com/product/wgg244zcgb-bosch-series-6-washing-machine-graphite-99923-1.aspx
