I didn't think an A2A system that heated a hot water cylinder existed yet. I have asked for a survey and quote and will go the Multi or Multi+ Split route, depending on installation requirements .

Has anyone got a Daikin Multiplit installed in their home? If so, could you share:

1) If you kept your boiler or went for the £2.5K BUS grant?
2) What your achieved SCOP is?
3) How effective heating was at 0 degrees C outside?
4) What are annual serving costs?

Thanks in advance, as this will help us decide on whether go down this route or find alternative options for heating/ cooling and hot water.

FWIW I had a good Google last week and couldn't find anyone quoting online for such a system, either installed or as parts. It will be interesting to see what sort of quote you get.

I did see something similar offered online from a less-well-known supplier last year; I'll see if I can find the website / listing again.

I had a similar experience so I used Daikin's "find an installer" tool to (eventually) be connected to one. It's 95% likely that we will skip the hot water cylinder option and just go with a 5 room multi split unit instead.

I am speaking with the owner of the company on Wednesday. They appear well reviewed and are boiler and heat pump installers.

This has got to be what the future looks like for the combination of cooling, heating and hot water.

I read somewhere (I do not recall where) that to get the £2500 BUS grant, it must be an MCS registered install, and that there are not currently any MCS registered A2A installers. Up yo yhis point the vast majority of A2A are installed by aircon/refrigeration folks and are commercial installs. One installer when asked, said MCS registration and requirements would likely add £2.5k to their overhead costs so was not worth the effort. Perhaps now there is an emerging domestic market that will change.

This may be completely wrong so will be interested to hear your experiences.

This is accurate and a bit more complicated. You would also need to give up your FF boiler to be eligible for this grant.

But where would hot water come from? To the best of my knowledge, Daikin is the only brand that offers a single solution for all three requirements.

I would suspect leaving an immersion only water tank would be as good as a heat storage type product. With no gas boiler common sense should prevail but who knows. That and a cheap time of use tariff and ideally some batteries and the whole aircon split and immersion setup should be very cheap in the long run.

My hope is that these types of heat pump hot water cylinders become more mainstream in the absence of alternatives. Using an immersion can be very expensive on the wrong tariff.

Genuinely impressive! Just wish some of the Japanese brands had something comparable - I’ve not had the best reliability from Samsung products.

Once one manufacturer releases a product, you can bet the rest will copy the idea.
