Slow channel update

Similar here, the LG has been a disappointment in a number of ways.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
Curiously I have a now comparatively 'ancient' 2017 LG Oled55E7N with software updates set to automatic.
Channel guide takes 3 to 4 seconds to load on very first access when TV turned on, but then instantaneous thereafter, so no issues in this regard or generally
Interesting to note from this thread that this functionality may have deteriorated in newer models.
My TV still holding up well despite its advanced age, but in future may well jump ship to Samsung or Sony Oleds for an eventual replacement.

Picture quality is as good as new, but the dog slow EPG is annoying me now

Would argue that the LG is likely a better picture than the Sony.
My solution would be a STB for any streaming or EPG etc and use the TV simply as a screen. Also means when the latest and greatest comes out which your TV doesnt support its the relatively low cost of buying a new firestick or such rather than the much more expensive route of replacing the TV

Why do you think that?

My LG is very slow to load and respond to my Firestick & Youview box

Sony mainly LG OLED panels but they add their own electronics to them but also do use a Samsung panel in their flagship. So can the manufacture of the screen or a third party get the best out the screen?
The Toms Guide is the usual level of material from them these days… they say they are comparing the mid range LG to the much more expensive Sony and that the Sony was better but they also note that the mid level Sony's are poor. Similarly for the Samsung they are again looking at the top of the line one again commenting that the mid range models feature LG made panels unlike their flagship.
Its funny that they also make a big thing about how bright the Sony TV is at 1,700 nits whereas the LG G series TV is 2,200 nits but of cause they are comparing it to the C series which is 1,200 nits
So surprise surprise, take the top tier of two brands and say they are great but that their mid tier are notably worse and compare it to the mid tier of another brand and act surprised of what the outcome is.
Dont you think fair journalism that you can trust would either compare flagship to flagship or compare the TVs across brands at the same price point? Stinks of one company not willing to buy enough advertising so they intentionally make an unfair comparison to punish them.

We've had an LG Smart TV for about 5 (?) years - to put the subtitles on (for live TV) I think requires about 8 button presses to navigate to the correct place!
Our previous TV had a button with 'subtitles' written on it!

To be honest I would not say one is better than the other. Both were top of the range when I bought them.
I would say slightly sharper picture on my LG and colour rendering is more natural on my Samsung.

The B9 was the bottom of the range from LG OLEDs, all of the 9s were announced as CES in January 2019 but their release were staggered across the year. The C9/E9 April-May depending on size and W9 & B9 in June/July
Ignoring the R and Z which were giant screens at silly prices with the R being rollable and the Z being 8k display. All three of the others used the same panel but:
B9 used the Alpha 7 processor
C9 used the Alpha 9 processor
E9 was a C9 with a built in soundbar
W9 was a C9 but the electronics were in a separate box so the screen was thinner.
They've used a similar naming strategy since 2016 with the B always the lowest model and the C always being the middle market. The letters of the ones above do chop and change a bit, for the last few years G is the top and the R and Z options were dropped a few years ago.

If you say so, I remember it was expensive.
Anyway, the point of my post was dog slow channel update and I certainly will not be buying another LG.
