Morning all. Thanks for the lists. Have only skim read. Seems everyone is ok just a little hot.
So far today I have done most dailies but still need to wash up the breakfast dishes and put rubbish out. Our bed is airing while the mattress protector is drying outside. I've also washed the sofa throws, walked Poppet and done my exercises. The garden and greenhouse has been watered. I love my garden at the moment. It's exactly as I want it already and is not normally like that until it's too late in the season to actually enjoy it.
I'm still to do more admin, hoover through and more washing as a minimum before I meet friends for ice cream later.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Morning all,
We had some thunder rumbles here last night too and then steady rain for a few hours - luckily not the downpours that some places had. It was so dark at 6pm that I had to have the lights on to get tea ready! Today there is a brisk breeze. I have stripped and washed the bedding, plus the mattress cover and bath mats. They are double pegged due to the wind!
Other flying - dusted and vacuumed the bedroom and the DR. Kitchen had a cursory s&s. I am off soon to have my hair cut (🥵) via getting petrol for DD’s car and the opticians to adjust my frames. If I get everything done, and get there and back, then I will have had a productive day so that I can justify flopping afterwards.5 -
We had a right old storm last night too, and even some rain which the garden will be grateful for. The rest of today was just too hot; 35 degrees when I got in my car to come home from work.
- did a gym swim
- went to work. We had the nice suprise just as I was leaving, to be summoned to the college lawn as the graduating BA students had made mocktails and provided nibbles for us.
- The low point of the day was spending about 3hrs sorting out insurance. Initially a phone call; agent's computer had the wrong brakehorsepower listed for my car and told me to ring the dealership (I'd already checked I had the correct bhp on Mr G and knew it was right). Rang dealer; I was right. Rang insurance back; recorded message suggested I could 'change vehicle details' online. Filled online form in twice as each time it showed the wrong bhp. Then spent 2hrs+ on Whatsit exchanging messages with 'Dolly' which comprised giving all the details again. Dolly seemingly conferred with manager as computer was adamant it knew the size of the car. Eventually we agreed on a cost, despite bhp being wrong but at least I have it in writing that we have discussed it. Was exhausted after that.
- Watered greenhouse and sat by the pond for a while to recover.
- Watched a trailer sent by a friend and replied that I'd spent enough money lately to book a dance show.
- Transferred money to car dealership.
- Got an Amzoon voucher from TCB earnings and used it to order a Granny Charger.
- Checked a couple of potential drumming songs but by then it was too late to rehearse.
That's all more admin-y than flying but needs must and only one thing left on my urgent list now.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.5 -

Morning all. Too hot for me too… Hope everyone's OK. Are your stitches out yet, round?
Yesterday I decided to keep my appointment at the tip so decluttered the broken whirligig and several small plastic flowerpots, plus 2 large plastic tubs for re-homing if anybody wants them. I also put various bits and pieces in our bins. Afterwards I called at Knit & Natter but only one other person was there, so we called it a day and I gave her a lift home before coming back here. I spent an hour and a bit in the garden from about 8.30pm and managed to plant up the remaining pots in the front garden with the last of the bedding plants. I also pulled upmost of the forget-me-nots which are definitely over now - then spent half an hour picking their seeds off my blouse and trousers. I planted out my home-grown sunflowers into a big trug that I had earmarked for my runner beans - but the slugs had a field day and there's no chance of getting any more bean plants at this late date. J the gardener is coming this afternoon (his choice, not mine) so I am hoping that he will mow the lawn and then cut back the jasmine and choisya either side of the front door - they are hampering our movements in and out, especially if we're carrying shopping bags.
This morning I have made my bed, hoovered the LR and other downstairs floors, and downloaded a £15 voucher for MrAl that I had won as a result of taking out house insurance through a particular website that says it is a supermarket for money (I had checked with Martin first and it was one of my cheapest options).
I didn't sleep at all well last night - Rosie must have heard distant thunder as she woke me for reassurance just after I had gone off - so I'm desperately in need of a morning nap as well as one after lunch. Will catch up with you all later xxx

Morning all,
Yes, too hot for me too. I am currently in the last bit of shade before the sun creeps round. Doing…absolutely nothing, unless reading an online magazine counts. We have moved the defunct fridge freezer out from the utility room onto the patio (grand word for a few slabs). Tomorrow we will hopefully have a new one delivered and this one taken away. Of course, I then had to vacuum the gap it came out from and wipe the floor. 2 loads through the wm, on the line and probably already dry. Yesterday’s flying efforts mean that I have inadvertently achieved a full 3 levels of today’s list!
Last night I watered the small plants at the allotment. It was still way too hot really, and I intended to go back this morning to pick the last of the mange tout and asparagus peas. That hasn’t happened. DH is off to the airport later pick up DD from her travels. I am on builder duty. I think that I have the better end of the deal.6 -
Twot for Rounds 🥵
I had my staples out last Wednesday iona and returned to work yesterday. The outside is healing nicely and I assume the inside is too, but that will take longer I was told. So no head banging allowed! Not heard back about the results yet.
I've put the bins out ready to be emptied tomorrow and I'm keeping the birdbath and the hedgehog's dish topped up with water.
Did I mention I'm twot? 🥵

I have washed a dress to wear tomorrow to accompany SD to a hospital appointment during which, I presume, the results of his prostate biopsy will be revealed. I rather suspect that the summoning means it's not good news.Luckily my prior engagement cancelled so I am now free to take him.
I have put the recycling bins out plus a bag of shredded paper. I have WUALTD, set WM on - there's no wearing things for 2 days in this heat. I have also typed up my itinerary for the weekend using 16pt so I can read it without swapping glasses. Milk bill paid.
I gave myself a severe talking to a couple of weeks or so ago. I'm now over 1 st lighter.
ETA towels and bathmat in WM now…5:00am!
