You're only trying the lottery appeals process because you can't be arsed with court documentation, no matter how easy, remember.
You can always just do what most of us would do - ignore them and just wait for the court claim, which involves 2 online forms.Smart Parking discontinue all claims before they get to a hearing. They especially don't want a judge to examine this notorious site - it's a nice cash cow for them.
Increasing costs that are plucked out of thin are simply a way to force people into caving. See how they work - you're already getting cold feet 😉

Ok thanks guys, I'll listen to the advice here and wait it out. Let's see how it goes. I'll share updates.
Appreciate the guidance!

Ok thank you. Really appreciate you sharing the draft for the appeal. I'll use that and drop an update on how it went.
Cheers

Quick one please - what's the worst case scenario here? Smart Parking uphold the charge, refer me to IAS, they side with SP, I lose the appeal and pay £180?
What about credit score? Anything else I need to be aware of?
Thanks

No , you dont pay a penny
Nothing will happen to your credit file
Just be aware to come back to this thread if there are further developments, like Letter of Claim giving you 30 days notice or a Money Claim, you dont ignore those, but do ignore powerless debt collectors letters
So, don't be a stranger

That is the worst case scenario but only because you're making it worse for yourself.
Best is obviously they concede or the IAS finds in your favour.
Middle ground is the IAS aside with Smart, you ignore them (as the motorist is not bound by an IAS decision) and either Smart don't issue proceedings or, if they do, you come back here, follow the guidance, defend the claim, and Smart discontinue before it even gets to a hearing, meaning you pay nada.
Even if it got to a hearing (which if smart do discontinue all claims, it won't) then you still have a pretty good argument, so you may well win and pay nothing.
Even if you lost, you wouldn't be really be likely to pay any more at that stage, and if you paid within 30 days or whatever it is, there wouldn't be any affect on your credit score.

Very insightful, thank you! That gives me much more confidence. Here's hoping they concede!

Doesn't matter a jot.
Nobody here pays a penny to Smart Parking. Not even when they get a Claim Form.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

For reference you can only get a CCJ if you ignore the claim form OR it goes all the way to hearing AND you lose AND you still don't pay within 28 days of the hearing.
But we've never seen a Smart Parking single ticket claim not be discontinued.

Hi all, just a quick one - it's been 17 days since I appealed and haven't heard back at all. Nothing notifying me if it's been rejected, forwarded to IAS or anything. Is this normal?
