Morning all,
Back after a week away, but then you guessed that from the weather, didn’t you 🌧️? I waved frantically at HB as we got to and from the ferry. I am impressed about the planned walk to Tavistock - no mean feat. We had a lovely time, but have come back a good deal heavier due to the irresistible French bread, salty butter and maybe the odd pain aux raisins or 3. I stood on the scales yesterday and wondered how in the space of 10 days I had managed to become the heaviest I have been for a couple of years. So slinky is back on in a serious way, although exercise (lack of) as ever will be my downfall. I have also come back with a mountain of washing, including DD’s as she was with us for a few days but is off on her travels again. She kindly left me the washing though.
I have read through the thread, so hugs to all, especially Round. So glad you are improving day by day, especially with the help from Nurse Sassy 😍. So jealous of Narc0’s spinach harvesting as my allotment was dismal when we left due to the heat and is most likely slug ridden now. I am planning a stint there this morning to survey the damage. And get the exercise of course. Flying will mostly consist of tackling the washing mountain. Builders are back on Monday, so little point in making too much effort downstairs as plaster dust will get everywhere. And therein lies my excuses for the coming week.Have a lovely Saturday all x

Good morning all and Happy Saturday
DW to be emptied, WM has been run twice and I have towels to peg out but I am just luxuriating in bed as it was changed yesterday so is still 'fresh' (almost). However I have drunk my coffee so ought to get up.
Went to a concert last night and it was very good; was a fundraiser for Weston Park hospital from which I still benefit as they fund the swimming sessions I attend. So a win for me!
Hope everyone as a good weekend and hoping the wound heals quickly Round.
Welcome back Fayolle

Stripped the bed, flipped the mattress and remade it with Belovéd using a throw as the mattress protector because the proper one can now be washed and pegged out.
Helped Belovéd wrestle my father's old armchair out of one of the letting rooms to be broken up and delivered to the tip next time we're passing. Belovéd was very butch with the sawing and hammering.
A lovely scientific ex-lodger has tentatively finalised her dates for coming to stay with her two daughters, and completely co-incidentally we've had an enquiry for the subsequent four weeks, which seems like an amazing co-incidence. The musician is new to us, but the partner of a lovely trumpet player who did the panto here a few years ago. We only seem to get musicians these days, or technical crew. I think actors are all going into Air BnBs.

- endless electronic 'paperwork' to get the teacher's discount for this car. I'd thought a P60 would be enough evidence, but they then need a bank statement to ensure I actually receive what the P60 says - well where else would it be going? Not sure I appreciated letting random salesmen have copies of my bank statement (she spends how much on coffee?) but c'est la vie. Took 2 downloads and several emails before the system accepted it. Then a copy of driving licence; if they're using that as ID I'd already warned them that mine is old style paper without a photo. However I had to tick that box on the computer.
- had a lovely lake swim. Swans still have 7 of their original 8 cygnets. Saw 2 reed warblers (I think) and a fallow deer.
- went to Mr L and was very restrained, mindful of what my bank account is going through, I just got the few things on the list and didn't look at any 'middle aisles'.
- made lentil brownies.
- went to voluntary workplace summer picnic. One of my students is a great drummer; I knew she played, but hadn't heard her before. Lovely sunny afternoon with lots of previous staff and students as well as current ones as the place is relocating for the autumn term. Dragonflies buzzing around.
- Mr N and I went to our local dragonfly trail on the way home and saw quite a few more.
- harvested some spinach (hope yours recovers Fayolle) , did some weeding and planted out a few more things from the greenhouse. It's a mixed bag really owing to the weather and being on hols during the hot spell.
- tidied up a few things ready for BIL arriving tomorrow. The place is pretty ok really.
- I have a couple of emails I really want to reply to tonight, and a search on our electricity tariff.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.7 -
2 loads of washing line dried. LR and BR vacuumed. Stuff moved to appropriate places.
I had to get a driving licence to buy my 'new' car, Narco, due to an unfortunate incident with a shredder. Anyhoo, it's now in my purse so a recent demand for ID was no issue (buying furniture on the never-never). I am at a complete loss as to how anyone gets away with 'criminal' behaviour now…what with security cameras, demands for ID and 20 questions when depositing/withdrawing cash. Banks won't even convert loose change to cash without it going into an account.

Blackcats - yeah we thought it was rude of the woman. DD2 said that she's always been a miserable cow.
Narc0lepsy - I felt the same when my car had to go, even though I knew I wasn't allowed to drive him anymore. I thought it was law to have a photo drivers license nowadays?
In my absence I've managed to keep on top of the kitchen. I've rearranged bulky stuff that shouldn't be in there but has no where to go at the moment e.g boxes of unneeded kitchen stuff waiting to go to charity. I've obviously used the DW, WM and TD several times. I scrubbed the kitchen and bathroom floors on my hands and knees so im pleased with the result but of course now my knee is playing up (back feels fine though)
I've also cleaned the bathroom and it looks good but now I have to move the bucket of cleaning stuff, toilet roll storage, and bucket of cat/litter tray stuff back in which will make it feel cluttered again.
After my coffee I plan to carry on sorting and boxing more stuff for charity in the front bedroom so hopefully I can make some space in there.

Morning all,
Well, I did go to the allotment yesterday after a painful hour on the phone to customer services at mandess, where it made me question whether absolute honesty over an error is actually worth it. My conscience is clearer, but my patience was definitely tested, although I managed to remain calm and polite through the whole interaction, despite the annoying hold music. Not the lad’s fault at the end of the phone, but when you obviously don’t know how to deal with the query and have to keep asking the mysterious supervisor, can you not just let me go to the horse’s mouth? Rant over. I followed that with a few pleasant hours at the allotment. It was our village open day so the allotments were part of the trail. I removed about 4 weeds and chatted far more to fellow allotmenteers and passers by. So today, as another part of the grand plan of flying avoidance, I am planning another - more productive hopefully - morning at the allotment. Narc0, my spinach isn’t actually showing itself yet, having lost 2 sowings, so I have a long way to go.
On the flying front, I did 2 loads of washing yesterday and another has just finished. The iron pile is back to toppling. The LR is empty ready for the builders so living space is now moved to the back bedroom. If we can find space around the ironing that is.7 -
re paper licences - they are valid (up to age 70).
Two loads of washing done, bedding plus other pale stuff. I have king size sheets so wash each one separately but with other stuff../bed is not kingsize but my mattress is deep plus I am a wriggly sleeper.
Jab arm much better today.
Watered my new rhubarb yesterday - this came from the garden of my friend's partner who died tragically earlier this year - the house is being sold and I happened to mention I was looking for new rhubarb things (forget what they are called - rooty lumps) and she dropped them round on Monday. There are new leaves already 😁 The weather has been kind to tender new plants settling in this week!
I do need to pick and dry some bay leaves - my jar is empty.

I fed the birds, filled the birdbath and filled the hedgehog's dish.
A step towards normality 😊
