we have Motorola work phones. If you like android they seem fine. (only saying that because I’m an iPhone woman, but that’s not the sort of money you need to spend.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

@elsien Thanks for that. Definitely don't want to spend iPhone money for a first phone (might end up being only phone).

Check the software support end date for whatever phone you intend to purchase. (ask chatgpt)

Which particular phone are you looking at?

Just ask chatgpt for to do a compare for you.

I have been happy with Motorola phones for many years - I don't require anything fancy or a status symbol - & recently got a G86 as I was having issues with the previous battery & updates being denied on Android v10. However I recently helped an elderly cousin discover the world of smart phones. At 83 this has been quite a revelation, but as his usage will be fairly basic (calls, texts, a little browsing, but no downloads of music/media & no social media use) he went for a Samsung as it has more scheduled updates & he does not envisage ever needing to purchase a future new phone.

I had a Motorola E4, it was great for sometime. Budget £100 mark. Suited me as a low phone user. But it then started switching off even though it said battery fully charged. I could be on a call and the phone would just shut down completely. Only did about 3 years.

I had a budget Nokia smart phone that didn't last either.

My Samsung A21s at around £170 has lasted me 5 years so far. But it no longer gets security updates. So I will up grade soon. I will go for another Samsung.
