Narco said: "Love Florence. Haven't been there for years but 2 visits running I found the same restaurant which did the best mushroom risotto in the world."
I had an exceptionally disappointing seafood risotto in one but discovered that adding a drizzle of olive oil from the bottle on the table absolutely transformed it so I'm really glad it was a tad grim, or I would never have tried adding the evoo. I now keep a bottle on the table at home for when my culinary efforts don't delight.
Flying: two loads of laundry whizzed through the machine last night were pegged out at 7.00am and although it's only been sunny for the past couple of hours it's all drying nicely, which it needs to because I want to pack some of it. I've also handwashed a couple of things that I should have thrown in the WM at the same time, so they're dangling as well.
Garden Flying: All the geranium plugs which have been reluctant to grow because where they are coming on is too cold, so they have been inserted in the troughs on the railings at the front of the house so I can bring the cucamelons and spinach up to the next level of the mini-greenhouse to give them a chance while we'er away. I may have to get some more colourful flowering things for the troughs because there may be some bald patches in them. It's too early to tell, but stuff is growing at last. I've also moved the last primrose in a pot to the yard where it is cool and damp and they do well in the summer, whereas they curl up and fade in direct sun and heat. I love primroses.
I've managed to get some soot on the dining room carpet so if anyone has any brilliant ideas that work for how to get the (several) spots out, I'd be grateful for some advice. I fear it may be terminal for that carpet and right now I don't have the £££ to replace it.
I'm where I need to be for departure tomorrow, and am now concentrating on packing. It's been an exhausting couple of weeks but I get a day of rest next Tuesday so I'm looking forward to that, as well as the things we've planned to do in Glasgow over the bank holiday weekend with friends.

Evening all. Four washloads done today and dried outside. Started grey and dull and humid but late morning the sun came out and the air freshened up. Turned into a lovely afternoon. Did a few garden jobs. We had a walk round the block this morning, first time DH went out for a week but that was enough for him. He spent the rest of the day on the settee. I made a cake so he had a piece of that for tea.
Hope everyone's OK x

Evening all. I have flying to report for the first time this week. I have hoovered through and hacked the grass.

Have a lovely time in Glasgow, HB and Mr HB xx
Today I have
- unpacked my bag of craft bits from Sunday's family activities, and put everything away
- filed a few more loose papers that were cluttering up my desk
- took Rosie for a very short walk as she is limping again - I fear I may have to take her back to the vet tomorrow to check her pads
- DH hoovered through (sort-of)
- I prepped red cabbage which cooked in the SC all afternoon, but forgot to serve it with the pork chops we had for our evening meal
- sorted out the leftovers, ready to put in the freezer
- zig-zag machine-hemmed the new dishcloths that I bought a month ago (I cut them in half)
- and phoned my old uni friend and collaborator on the study courses that some of you may remember us writing - we found plenty to talk about and chatted for well over an hour!
J the gardener came, mowed the lawn, and emptied bulbs out of the patio pots, refilling them with fresh compost.
I'm now going to catch up with the final of Race Across the World.

Thank you Ionafan.
Just realised that the recommendation to have a guided tour from a Flylady, I think either Weency or PollyBear, is now not going to be able to happen because of the fire. I'm so sorry I ddin't acknowledge that earlier - we hadn't booked it and Belovéd was unlikely to go because of his arthritic ankle, but I could have, had the fire not happened. Many thanks and I'm sorry which of you suggested it.
I think we're almost ready. Belovéd has been brilliant at picking up the preparations I haven't had time to make.
This house needs a good and thorough dust. That'll be my first job when I get back.

washing on the line. Rabbits swapped over, garden chairs out of shed, to be followed by the table (later) and sunshade popped into car.
Poorly friend has had her daily message - she replies sometimes, which I take as a positive.
Camellia has had half a watering can poured into pot, will need watering later, too, and grass strip in rabbit run watered in the hope of growing 'free' rabbit food!

Morning all. Have a good holiday HB.
Today two wash loads are on the line, one work shift is out of the way, garden is watered, dailies are done and I've walked and bathed Poppet. Sitting down for a quick break to do puzzles.

I've phoned Pharmacy and Surgery to sort out my prescription - again. Asked Surgery if change can be made permanent to save me messing about every month - again. 🤞
So glad it's Friyayyyyyy. I can smell the weeeeekeeeennnd....or are they eating fish and chips down the corridor? 🤔 They are!

Hope the hols are restful and enjoyable Honey_Bear
bed in back bedroom (small double) has been split, moved, vacuumed under, on and behind and re-assembled. Valance sheet ironed and in situ (only what will be visible when it is made lol) and mattress waiting to go back on. I've also ironed the other two pillow protectors.
Top 'drawer' of bedside cabinet is actually a shelf with a pane of glass (for mugs etc) so glass has ben lifted out and washed. Also washed salad boxes from fridge and the other door rack as part of my ongoing fridge/freezer clean as I am carefully stacking them then they don't collapse like Jenga (and, no doubt, shatter).
Mattress Protector has arrived from Dun3lm so I can make the bed when I have had a sit down and a glass of pop (dandelion and burdock).

so…bed sorted and I have strimmed the long grass and am hopeful that the cuttings will dry so they will be picked up by the mower when I mow.
Getting ready to go out to Outmoving Cancer shortly then I will come home and shower then I'll go to see to SD's cat as he's gone away.
