New boiler to replace Worcester

Just had my 18 year-old WB boiler serviced for £78. And he freed up a sticky 3-way valve free of charge.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.1 -
I think, but could be wrong, that the £434 is effectively a FPR. It is the case with any FPR that faults found that make it BER won't be covered, unless you are prepared to pay extra for it.
I don't think it means they pull the plug when the bill reaches £434.

Yomagsy, remind me - is your boiler currently working ok, or does it have a fault?
If 'ok', then I agree - ask your local WB fellow to carry out his normal service at <£100, and see what he thinks about the overall state of the boiler. He should have a good idea about what is likely to fail due to simple age in these models, and the costs of keeping it going.
