Boots Advantage Points Expired... A bit of a rant

I tried to look up redemption/addition as points use in the terms but that bit of the website's "unavailable", along with quite a lot of other bits - maintenance.

The same thing happened to me about 15 years ago, I lost about £40 worth of points.
There were no reminders at that point and at the time, don’t recall even being aware that the points did expire (although I was even more reluctant to read small print then than I am now so I’m sure they had protected themselves).
Anyway, I’ve never shopped at Boots again since then as the experience left a sour taste in my mouth and there are plenty of other (cheaper) places to get the same stuff.

Thanks for tip off. I went into Boots yesterday to buy something small just so mine wouldn't run out. I am about to lose my Tesco clubcard points as the amount I have is too small to spend.

If you didn't read the small print, why are you blaming Boots?

because something as fundamental as this should be in the large print

I went looking in the Advantage Terms & Conditions today to see exactly under what circumstances points can be lost. The print must be exceedingly small because the only reference to losing points I could find was in relation to unregistered physical cards.
So still no definitive answer as to whether adding to and/or spending from your points balance will save you from confiscation.

I never said that I did blame Boots. But I did feel it was slightly underhand to just wipe points out without the customer being easily able to see that this was about to happen.
Exactly this. Or there should at least be some notification that points are due to expire within, say, a month. Perhaps there is now but there wasn’t then.

I've emailed them to ask, when I hear back I'll post here.

Didn't look very hard then.
11. Boots will remove Boots Advantage Card points from registered Boots Advantage Card accounts that haven't been used for one year or have been closed.

Yes, but define "haven't been used". Not logged into the account? Not added to the points total? Not spent points?
Good find though, I missed that para.
