They hate strong smells. Plant some pungent flowers. Lavender works well.
They also don't like chilli powder.

I had three dogs who were not cat friendly but that did not deter my neighbour’s cat from lying at my front door.
Being confronted with three dogs coming out the door or out of the car did not deter it.
It ran away but just came back when they were gone.
It lived with a boisterous young Labrador so was dog savvy.
