Old bloke locator?

I like to go gadding about the countryside on my mobility scooter, and in theory I text my dear wife every so often with my current location. When I forget, which I do from time to time, she starts worrying and I get it in the neck when I get home.

Is there a simple to use way in which she can use her Android phone to keep tabs on my current whereabouts - which may be 20 or so miles away as the bird flies?

Do you both have mobile phones, if so which ones? You should be able to share your locations with each other so you can both see where each other is.

Use Waze on mobiles, free, you can link to each other and she can see where you are your route etc, plus you can see where you are as opposed to where you think you are 😁

You can share your location from within the WhatsApp tools. Open the chat with your wife, click the paperclip, click location, click share live location, set the time limit for the share.

Thank you. I just took a look at it and it seems awful complicated. I know where I am because I use the Ordnance Survey app on my phone.

OK, it is very easy really [I'm 83 BTW, not a techy whipper snapper] You can set it to walking as opposed to car, but and of course more importantly it will send to SWMBO automatic location signals

That's hardly the point, you may know where you are at all times, your wife does not.

The OS app does include a Locate Me facility, but it generates a location on request and needs the user to send this via another medium to the recipient.

Setting up Location Sharing on your Samsung isn't really that difficult (and you only need to do it once). Just follow the step by step instructions.

My family members all have Android phones and we share our locations via Location Sharing on the Google Maps app.

I've even got an alert set so I get a notification when Mrs QrizB gets home from being out!

(Note that it tracks your phone, not you personally, so if you eg. leave your phone at home it's not going to help.)
