Vinted issue fake ray-bans
I bought a pair of new ray-bans on vinted, I really thought they were genuine and very nearly pressed the ‘ok’ button, after I collected them yesterday.
Then I did a last check and noticed something odd, on the left arm was written RB4171 CHRIS, but RB4171 is the ERIKA model. The CHRIS model should say RB4187 CHRIS.
So I contacted vinted using the ‘I think this is fake’. Their first reply was
‘Thanks for getting in touch. Your order status shows that the parcel should have been delivered to you: ➡️If you’d like to keep the item, go to the Order screen and press “Everything is OK” to complete the order. ➡️If you haven’t received the parcel yet or if there's an issue with the item, go to the Order screen, press "I have an issue", and choose a relevant situation. ⚠️You have 2 days from the time you receive the parcel to complete the order or report an issue. If you don’t take action within 2 days, we’ll automatically complete the order and release payment to the seller. Need more help? Just reply to this automatic message, and we'll be happy to assist. All the best, Team Vinted’
I relied that I still had an issue, and the next message was
‘Hello, This is an automated response. We have received your message. We’re sorry to say that it might take longer for us to get back to you. Our dedicated teams are working hard on this so please do not make new inquiries about the same matter, as doing so will clog the system, and will take us longer to respond. Thank you for your patience! Regards, Team VintedK
Now I am happy to wait, but today I have had this on the original chat with the seller ‘Check your order by 08 May 11:25
If your order matches its description, confirm that everything is OK. Report an issue if it never arrived or it’s not what you expected.’
The seller is showing as blocked if I search for them, and I can’t view the original advert, but I can still view the chat string. So do I wait for vinted to reply to me, and risk the money being released to the seller, or do I click on ‘I have an issue’ to doubly report it? Will that give the seller the opportunity to ask me to return?
sorry for the long post and hope it makes sense

Definitely click that you have an issue. Most of this will be automatic and you won't be able to change any decision.

Vinted have the worst Customer Service that I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.

Contact Ray Ban & get them to confirm they are counterfeit.

you only get 48 hours to report an issue on Vinted, rather than waste time contacting Ray Ban just say you have an issue and want to return the item.

In any case Ray Ban won’t have the time or inclination to check that for you. All manufacturers of expensive merchandise will refer you to a 3rd party authentication service which you will have to pay for.
If everyone who bought a suspected counterfeit item were to ‘check with the manufacturer’, they would be snowed under with such requests.
Yes, as others have said definitely say you have an issue.1 -
If the seller is blocked, that means vinted has banned them. So I guess vinted knew they were selling dodgy items. The seller can not block you, or you them, while you have an open transaction.
Hopefully, but this is vinted, you should get your money back and be told to dispose of the sunglasses.

thanks all, I did click 'I have an issue' within the 48 hours and have been waiting to hear something. Vinted have not got back to me yet! but this morning I have had a message from the seller on the chat string. They are still showing as blocked though. Does this mean they can ask for a return? Is there a way of contacting vinted to ask what is happening?
